Apple is releasing another new iPad - 128GB!

Maybe this would warrant using the Auria app? :?:

Damn!
I guess I won't be getting an iPad then. I bought a 64gig iPad about 2 weeks before Christmas and it lasted one day before the screen went goofy. I took it back and they didn't ask a single question. Didn't bat an eye. They seemed like they'd seen it a thousand times. So I figured I'd wait six months to a year for them to work the bugs out and then buy one knowing it would be pretty close to them rolling out a new (equally buggy) model by the time they got it fixed but now the new models are rolling out so fast that no longer seems like an option.

It's too bad too. Apple once had a reputation for building rock solid reliable stuff. Sometimes it was a little behind the development curve but it was always solid. Now they seem to have left that stability behind in favour of being ahead of the curve. Now they want to be known for being hip and trendy and never mind about reliability. My iPhone is crashing quite a bit. I spoke to Apple about it. Told them it wasn't acceptable. I could be in the middle of a business call and it could die for no reason. They said it's a computer, it will crash sometimes and I need to lower my expectations. I said I thought the best thing about Apple computers is that they don't crash and don't get malware. They tried to backpedal but it was too late and they knew it.

Steve Jobs is gone folks and Apple is now on the downward spiral. Their competitors can smell it too. Blackberry was in the process of preparing to call it quits but now they've got a spiffy new model with high hopes for a bright future. I might check it out.

Thanks for posting , Mike ! I was not aware of the Auria-app ; it seems to be very fine ! I do not use my iPad(2) much for recording , though I have used it. Maybe it is time to try this one - could be interesting to try out my zoom R24 as an interface. I've only used the camera-kit connection for midi purposes (and photos  ) earlier.
BMW-KTM - you might be right , but I still have zero problems with my Mac's and iOS -products, neither do I know anyone that have......... :D

I don't have Auria either, but it seems like it's a good one, although Cubasis is pretty good too. The main thing about recording with iOS devices is having them all sync and the AudioBus app allows that...

http://audiobus.tumblr.com/

I read/follow this blog and it's quite informative about iOS recording info:

http://smitematter.com/

David Israel is a friend now and was kind enough to give me a promo code or two for evaluating apps.

We also have zero problems with Apple products which include (2) iPhone 4S phones, 1 32GB iPad 3, 1 32GB iPad2, 2012 iMac w/16GB RAM, a 2012 MacBook Pro and Apple TV.

We DO have problems with Microsoft's Windows 8 laptops and if you like the Android platform, look for a summer surprise from Moto!

Cheers!
-Mike

Honestly I've owned countless amounts of Apple gear over the years and never had a problem, in my house there are 4 current gen iPhones, 2 iPads and an iPad mini, plus 3 macbooks. The fact that you got a dodgy one is not a surprise considering they sell literally millions of the things, had you got a new one to replace it I'm sure it would have been absolutely fine. In fact if anything you are complaining about fantastic customer service, Apples customer service is far better than almost any other companies I have experienced.

I think you guys are taking me wrong. I am an Apple fan. Or least I used to be up until recently. I've had 2 iPods and I'm on my 3rd iPhone (currently using the 4S-64) Up until recently I've never had a single issue with anything. Lately my phone is crashing. Apple knows some of the phones are crashing, they just don't seem to have anything constructive to offer in the way of solution. They also know the screens are iffy on the new Retina ipads. Something to do with a poor connection on a ribbon cable. My iPad was by no means whatsoever the only one with a screen issue. It was not a rare occurrence. It was and is a common occurence with the new retina iPads. I've seen plenty of complaints about that issue as well as the crashing phones on the Apple support site.

I try to hope these issues are just a temporary problem but I see how the company is changing its direction and it doesn't engender confidence.

I think I learnt a lot from those links, Mike . Pretty interesting , but right now I feel like this is a bit complicated . I am not afraid to learn about new things , but I am a bit afraid of getting the recording situation too complicated - it usually prevents/stops my creative flow (hard earned experience from my time with Windows/cubase) So I guess I'll still mainly stick to my Logic9 , and in addition play with iOS-gadgets as the time allows for it :D

Logic is my #1 also, but I now have a decent mobile recording rig
with the iPad (or my BR Micro 80).

I use FLStudio on my iPad to record multitracks of my band and then the project syncs seamlesly with my PC version of FLStudio to be edited in more depth.

Sounds great!

I've been using Dropbox to transfer apps between iOS devices - does anyone know of another program that does the same?

Dropbox works with the iPad for file sharing regardless of file type. The strategy is the device is a conduit for the data, regardless of where it resides.

:?: If you sync all your devices to the same iTunes - it's a piece of cake... 8)
