Ok...so a couple of weeks ago I went out and bought a Snark tuner. For years I just used my little Korg and it did a good enough, but up on stage, I really wanted to be able to check/tweak my tuning between songs without having to unplug. I picked up a cheapy Dano inline tuner a while back but after using it once or twice, it's just too bloody hard to see on stage (especially after a couple of beers). So I checked out these little Snarks. I'd seen them a couple of times in various music stores and they seemed to be pretty popular. For those who don't know, it's basically a little clip on tuner that pics up the instrument's vibrations. The tuning "dial" actually looks kind of like a little LED tachometer...and it's just deadly accurate! I've tried other clip-on's and was never really impressed with them...kind of hard to read and just not that terribly accurate. But these little Snarks just rock!!!

Seriously...if you guys haven't checked these out yet...it really is the best $25 I've spent on music gear in a VERY long time.

I love my Snark 8)

Peace,
Jim

One of the few things I kept from my Squier starter pack was the clip-on tuner. Very accurate and easy to use.

Nevermind Arjay. I saw where he said the clip on was the reason the second time I read it.

I agree with the Snark. It's quick, easy and accurate and if you don't leave it on the headstock you won't marr the finish or look like a doofus. I bought a Peterson strobe tuner that clips on. It's way too accurate. It takes way too long to get the strobe to stop dead on, if you can at all. I hardly ever use it. I'm on my third Snark, which I superglued to keep it alive.l

Shall we assume the Snarks don't last very long then, if you're on your third?

For what it's worth, I love my Peterson tuner. I would never give it up. My Peterson proves to me beyond a shadow of a doubt every single time I use it that no matter how good I think my ear is (and it's pretty freakin' good) it's not as good as the Peterson. When I make the corrections the Peterson wants me to make I just do them even if I don't think they're right because once I'm finished tuning and strum a chord and hear that perfect tune I realise I was wrong.

The thin pivot is sort of fragile on the Snark SN-2 I have. I've dropped it once, or to be more accurate it flew out of my hand when I lost the grip on the clip while putting it on. It flew about 15 feet, hit the wall and then the floor. Brother Dave Tested, Brother Dave Approved! Mine was about $12.

Why do all tuner brand names sound like they came out of a Dr. Seuss book?

Because every Dr. Seuss book was actually a tune which is why it rhymed.

The book he wrote about war/arms races makes perfect sense.
