Hiya. First time poster, long time listener. I'm currently selling my Squier Supersonic on the ebizzle and I was wondering how and where I look up the serial number. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Welcome to the Fender Forum.

The Squier Super-Sonic serial number should be on the base of the neck-back along with the country of origin decal.

The Supersonic was a SQUIER VISTA series guitar first shipped in 1996 with production ending in 1998. So it is in there somewhere for sure. The bodies are Japanese basswood. The pots are wired backwards and there is no tone control at all. Pot nearest the bridge pickup actually works the neck pickup and the pot nearest the neck pickup adjusts the bridge pickup. Wacky huh?

Squier serial decoding is a bigger mess than Bernie Madoff's taxes. Therefore there is no comprehensive online dating resource that works for ALL Squiers that I know about. On this particular model though I can offer the following dating help.

1996/1997 S-S editions have a V+6 digit serial. (On calendar year 96 models the small 50th Fender anniversary sticker is a dead giveaway.)
1997/1998 S-S models have an A + 6 digit serial.

The above is true....MOSTLY. Also there are neck date codes on almost all of them if not all. However sometimes the code numbers are smeared, light or otherwise illegible.

If the above info doesn't work for you, post your serial/origin info in a new thread in the Squier section which would probably be a better place than the Fender Lounge since it is a specific question on a Squier guitar.

The Fender Lounge section is good for general chit chat about Fender stuff and general questions. The Squier section is specifically for Squier guitar and bass questions. Go to the forum index and scroll down near the bottom to get to the Squier sections.

Good luck in your sale! What color? I'm really partial to the SPARKLE BLUE on these. It also came in Olympic White, Black and Sparkle Silver. In spite of the fact I don't need another guitar, this one is somewhat appealing since it was one of the rare cases where Fender issued the FENDER version (The Fender Super-Sonic) AFTER the Squier version was discontinued! WOW!
