Just to let everyone know, these guys had a bunch of gear stolen today, so try to keep an eye out.
Here's the Facebook update that they posted:
"***STOLEN GUITARS***
To all of our fans, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We woke up this morning in Spokane Valley, Washington and all but one of our guitars had been stolen. Pinky, my main Fender Stratocaster was stolen along with my 1965 Gibson SG Junior. Graham's VOS 57 Gibson Goldtop Les Paul and his 58 Sunburst Les Paul were stolen as well. The crook also helped himself to Noah's black Gretsch bass guitar & Caleb's Black Beauty snare drum. Can you guys please help us keep an eye on Craigslist & eBay? We gave the police all the serial numbers for our guitars, so hopefully they'll turn up somewhere around here. I'm gonna start calling every pawn shop within a hundred mile radius as soon as we get our bearings. We are super bummed out today and could use some good vibes. I believe with all of my heart that these guitars will turn up. We love you guys. -tyler"

That sucks about the guitars. I know I'd feel miserable if any of mine were ever stolen like that.

Well, I actually did download his new album and got very well acquainted with it on the way to and from Memphis. It feels good listening to an album that only a couple of weeks old and liking it so much! My "new" music is usually 20+ years old by the time I hear it. Some of the songs are on the poppy side, but that's not a bad thing. Maybe it'll catch the attention of people who wouldn't otherwise listen to bluesy rock music. I really like his sound and style, although I don't really hear too much SRV in there. It's sounds more Billy Gibbson/Doyle Bramhall like to me, if you want to compare him to blues guitarists. Lots of Hendrix too. And is it just me, or does his voice sort of remind you of Buddy Holly without the Elvisisms?

Geez. Is it just me, or does it seem like the stories of famous (or, at least, real touring musicians who are making a living from music and don't have a day job) musicians getting their guitars stolen are becoming increasingly frequent?

Happened to Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth last month. There was another one the month before who's name escapes me right now. And we're talking 1965 instruments that they've had for 30 years (in Thurston's case; Tyler is not even that old), not reissues. Their babies.

Are these touring musicians simply at the mercy of hotel staff? What can be done about this?

Not that it's a problem that affects me. I'm just curious.

How do the instruments of successful-but-not-U2-level-famous bands travel? I'm talking more successful than 3 guys starting out driving around in their hometown in a van. They have to go from city to city but they might not be able to afford an armed guard to guard their instrument 24/7.

Who stole Tyler's and his band's guitars?

If Graham took a '58 LP Burst on the road with him, he was kind of foolish. The odds are it belonged to his dad, (bass player for Aerosmith). Either way it's a shame. Thieves suck!

Brad Whitford is the second guitar player in Aerosmith (I refrain from categorizing him as just the rhythm player). This does suck - especially since the Pinky guitar was kind of the "one" for Tyler.
