ok. i was tuning my guitar and one of my strings broke so i got new ones. my old strings sounded great but these new ones have a weird tone to them.one of my buddies told me i may have thightend them too much but it doesnt sound like thats whats wrong.any ideas on how i can fix them or whats wrong?

ps- my guitar is a fender squier strat and the strings are called burswood light standards if that helps any

You might of changed string gauges...?Try a set of Dean Markley blue steels 9's. They stretch out better in my opinion.

No need to buy new strings...

just play them and stretch them out dont listen to your friend and after a while the strings will sound like your old ones....

Like a lot of newer guitar players, you've gotten used to the sound of dead strings because you don't change them enough. Now new, bright, proper sounding strings sound wrong to you. There's nothing wrong with them. You've just mixed a new string with a bunch of dead strings. There's going to be a difference in tone untill the new string becomes dead like the rest. You don't need to change guages or brand. You'd have the same problem with any brand.

OOooopppsss...my bad. You're right. Well, for the most part I was right. He's used to the sound of dead strings and new ones don't sound right to him.
