I kept hitting my switch when it was in the neck position, especially during the solo for I Turned Into A Martian. (listen below) Because we play it a lot faster, probably double the speed.

Anyways, I was looking through my box of miscellenious parts and scrap metal when I came across an old desk bell holder. (I mounted the bell on my drum set  ) It was the actual thing the bell was mounted on, and the thing that held the actual hammer that hit the bell. I snapped one of the legs off, ground it down, (to remove sharp edges) and screwed it in place with one of the pickguard screws. No damage to the guitar, and I don't knock my switch around anymore.

Looks like it would get in the way 400 times more than the regular switch does, and it would prevent a quick switch from neck to bridge that one might want to do for a legitimate purpose in a song. Also seems like it might flat out hurt or even cut you if you strummed into it too hard. It's very punk, however, to do stuff like this to mess up your guitar. So you get street cred "keepin' it real" points.

whatever works for you is really all thats important. for me, i would work more on pick hand technique than modify a guitar. thats just me of course and i know nothing about nothing. i still love thrash and punk at my old age and i've never had this issue on any guitar. i only wish my fret hand was as good as my pick hand. i wonder why that is?
i don't think its ugly at all and if it swivels you can adjust it for each tune if you need to.

A few players I know just bend the tip down a bit. What ever works for you is what matters. Nice.

I don't need to switch during a song. I either have it on heavy or light, with no in betweens.

I would be more concerned with doing damage to my hand on that piece of metal moreso than hitting the pickup switch.Even though you rounded off the sharp edges,it still is a 1/8 - 1/16 " piece of metal and could give your fingers a good rinding if you forgot yourself while strumming and had a Pete Townshend moment. When I first started playing Teles it didn't take long for me to modify my strumming in order to avoid contact with the pickup switch, the same went for Strats too.

lots of people reverse the control plate or reverse the switch. I have the same problem, I have x-large hands that love to hit switches if I don't use good control. If it works then more power to ya.

Camera shifted and was slightly obscured. Yes, this is the Invader.

i put this on my strat switch just for a laugh. its 'Bunny's' toe from The Big Lebowski. its only pushed on so comes right off. thing is it actually qorks better than the normal switch tip because of the shape of the toe.
