I've been experimenting with playing some reggae style stuff, you know, toning it down to ease my left hand, making my right do all the work. But the way I'm picking, with reverb and clean, I get all of these pops and quacky sounds out of my bridge pickup. it's delightful.

Welcome to the addiction !!

The Telecaster is every bit as great as the Stratocaster.

Neither is 'better' ... just different... in a good way !!

IMHO, everyone should own the pair !!

cheers!

I hate trems. I'd only ever own a hard tail Strat after my experiences with the ones I've owned in the past. I hated em.

And I actually think the Telecaster is a lot better. it's simpler and it has a more bare feeling to it.

I love my Tele. It is the guitar I play the most.

Discovering and exploring that raw biting sound of a Telecaster bridge pickup is a near-religious experience. Played through a clean tube amp with a touch of reverb, there's something timeless about the growling half-controlled aggression of the Tele. It should be illegal to replace the Telecaster bridge pickup with a humbucker.

And a big +1 for hardtailing Strats. I play a lot of Jerry Donahue/Arlen Roth style pedal steel type bends with one or two strings held at pitch while another bends up, can't do that without a fixed beidge.
