Censorship will be the demise of Fender.
The First Amendment applies everywhere, not just on political forums.
If you don't like the content of a thread, find another thread that makes you happy!

I see that it's 'here we go again' time. Bolder, bigger, and colorful as usual.

Your points of view have been well made in these Forums, and I have no doubts that it quite clear to all concerned as to what your philosophies have been on a host of political and social issues. IMHO the current discussion does not broach a First Amendment censorhip.. Ground rules for The Forums were established at their inception and are expressly stated for each. When someone joins, they do so with the expressed understanding of the ground rules and one assumes that they will be abided by all. The ground rules for the Lounge Forum direct that discussions will be about music or music related subjects. Over the years we have been comfortable in bending the ground rules for things such as the occasional congratulations on reaching posting milestones, birthdays, special occasions, and serving as a support group for members who are faced with personal burdens, oftimes tragic. The political arena, it appears, is one which many members would prefer to not enter within these pages. It is not an issue of censorship, but rather one of selectivity in discussions.

Perhaps we should poll the moderators and the membership to see if there is interest in incepting an Forum for the discussion of topical issues and whether or not it would be deemed appropriate:idea: That would satifiy the needs of those who feel they would like to wax poetic on an issue and, at the same time, seek out the opinions of others on the same.

Hmm..... A corner of the Forum neighborhood that we would not have to visit unless willing and able.... I'll vote for that....

Now where was that Stones thread from TGS .....

I think the level of participation and lack of complaints and number of views in the Christmas Tragedy thread are self-explanatory!

Yeah, the discussion of complaints will stimulate complaints, but...so what. Otherwise, nobody would be complaining and those of us who find everything music and everything Fender in these sorts of discussions can express ourselves and those who don't want to engage in these sorts of discussions will find another thread to participate in!

Let freedom ring!

Music *and* Fender have many facets, including the political facet -- let freedom ring.

Man, in every political thread there's always a brilliant comment. This one wins my vote!

Jokes aside, quoting again from the policies here:

Political and/or religious postings are strongly discouraged here as this sort of discussion frequently leads to strong disagreement amongst forum members -- and hence is quite contrary to our goal of providing a fun, family-oriented musical instrument enthusiast community. If you wish to debate political and religious topics we encourage you to seek out an appropriate community elsewhere on the Internet to do so.
