all suggestions are appreciated.

Egnator Rebel 20 or Rebel 30...I think the Rebel 30 is a bit more flexible.

EL84 and 6V6 tubes, channel switching, two master volume knobs, wattage knobs...and they sound killer.

The "British" (EL84) side is a bit more Vox-ish than Marshallesque, but with your Beatles fixation, that should work out fine.

My Rebel 20 has never given me any cause for concern and I believe 63Supro has also had similarly good luck with his Rebel 20. The 20 is not a channel switching amp though and it does not have reverb. Whatever you choose be sure to do some research before you shell out your cash. Most inexpensive amps are inexpensive for a reason and the reason is almost always cheap low-quality parts and hurried assembly with little or no QC.

Doesn't the Rebel 30 have channel switching?
I know the 20 doesn't...

I personally like the mass-produced Vox AC15, too...probably my next amplifier.

If money were no object and you don't mind waiting 3 months to have it made, the Valvetech Thunderbolt 25 would be in my opinion 'doing it right'. Fender, Marshall and Vox tone all in one head. Hand-wired, point-to-point with premium components in the USA, at a price cheaper than any other boutique amp builder afaik. I have the Valvetech Hayseed 15 (AC15 clone) and am more than happy with it. Straightforward layout inside. Repairs (which it has never required) would be a snap.

Here is a Thunderbolt 50 demo but you get the idea:

Try a Pro Jr, a Marshall Plexi and a Y-cable.

I know when I finally decide to get a new amp, Egnater will be on my short list. I use one at the rehearsal studio, and it always sounds good.

I've just been through a similar process of changing from a Fender Mustang II to a tube but my requirements were a little different, I was after the sound of a tube that was suitable for home practice.

As the Fender and Marshall was a bit out of my price range and a bit loud for home, I eventually filtered my choices down to either Blackstar or Vox, I went for the Vox Valvetronix VT40+, as I thought this was the best of both worlds and the sound is awesome. the great thing about this amp is you can vary the output with affecting the master or volume controls therefore I can vary it from a few watts to 60, can be a very loud amp.

Enjoy your search and trying them all out, by the way I kept the Mustang for my son using so still have both options if needed.

1000s of amps, 1000s of opinions.
Here's my recommendation. I have it (Head + 4x12"), I love it, it's versatile, 2 channels + boost:

I'd go with the Rebel 20. Mine's been rock solid for close to three years. Seems like Bruce is having growing pains at Egnater. They've had some tranny and tube problems on the Tweakers and some of the bigger amps.

The Rebel 20 is one of the simplest amps in the lineup but it's a total tone machine and I've never had a problem cutting the mix in any given situation. it has both 6V6 and EL84 power tubes that you can blend to any degree, plus is has a watts control and can be dialed in from one to twenty watts with a volume bump at 12:00 on the watts dial when all four power tubes are running. The watts control changes the headroom and adds to the versatility.

Like I said, mine's been rock solid. As with ANY amp, try one out at your local music store before you bring one home. Any tube amp can have problems with tubes from the get-go.

A Silverface Champ is nice, but not a serious gigging amp. I've played small gigs with mine and it was fine, but headroom is seriously limited.

One of my new favorites is the Tube Depot 5e3 clone I just built over the holidays. I had Weber build the speaker and it's a great sounding amp. Very versatile. It amazes me how many different old school rock tones you can get from just three dials. I've tried them before, but never got the time to really experiment with them.

There are two kind of guitar players, ones who use tube amps and those who will eventually use tube amps.

There are lots of places to get a 5E3 kit as well as some places that will build one for you from the ground up. They are amazing little amps. Amazing is actually too small a word. The Fender Tweed Deluxe could very possibly be the best little amp that was ever made. It's no wonder there are so many options out there for buying a replica of it.
