I agree they would have immense skill if they stay with it. But these children are probably forced to do this not because they are interested in it.

I don't find this creepy at all. You are just jealous. I think they are all charming and wish them continued success! They are playing on national TV, are you?

I think it's incredibly impressive, and we need to remember that in the classical world at least the large majority of those who make it to the very top started well before they were five years old. So there's method in the madness.

On the other hand. When I was a kid I learnt the violin for a while and was taught by a slightly modified version of the Japanese Suzuki Method. Small kids playing in big groups was a striking characteristic of that teaching technique, and I especially remember a TV programme that showed a huge room full of Japanese five year olds all playing the Mendelssohn violin concerto together, which scared the pants off me at the time - I was several years older and wa-a-ay behind them.

And yet. The Suzuki Method has been remarkably unsuccessful at producing top line players, and the few who've made it tended to rebel against it at some crucial phase of their education.

In other words, the battery chicken approach to music training gets you a certain distance quite fast - but not all the way.

Cheers - C

EDIT: typo

This is not the first time this video has been posted on the forum, so It has lost it's "creepy" factor for me.

Ceri, "Battery Chicken" sounds like a good band name, or album title! Thanks for that!

Your right. I find the clown with his arms around the kids more creepy.

Haha! A quick Google suggests that perhaps nobody's used it as a band name yet, so if you want it, go for it!

Obviously, your trademark graphic would show an endless row of chickens with wires coming out their heads running to Everyreadys on the ground beside them. Or some such...

Cheers - C

I went to North Korea many times: "The Disney Land of Communism"
Think of how many children have tried to compete to be there.
Those discarded are back to their remote villages with their parents, starving to death during winter and their music teachers sent to rehabilitation camps for "improvement" to the glory of the Great Leader
Nothing to compare to the photo you showed of the USA's President.
North Korean Children NEVER smile
