Welcome to The Matrix. Too bad these "acts" have an audience. We had syncing in our day and the bands did their best to lampoon the fact. We all knew it was contrived by the suits. Most new artists seem as soulless, and talentless, as the suits.

Watch some old Midnight Specials and see real artists making real "seat of their pants" music. David Bowie doing Major Tom with a five (6?) piece band is a classic, for sure.

I sure wish boxed DVD sets of this series were available. This one and Don Kirschner's show as well.

I should have said Space Oddity for David Bowie. I found the DVD on Amazon. I picked it up for 5 dollars in a bin at Best Buy.

They, Amazon, have each season available. As well as this one, called Million Sellers.

That only goes to show that most of today's "talent" is void of having any talent at all . Most of these bimbos are selected by record label A&R men for their "look" and they then work on turning them into stars or on the "Star Search" type shows.Their fame is so contrived that it makes Milli Vanilli look like Rogers and Hammerstein. They are shoved behind a mike and sing through mega thousands of dollars worth of voice processing equipment that would make anyone sound good even if they couldn't hit one true note. It's no wonder that they lip sync because they they couldn't carry a tune if you put handles on it.If any of these hacks were forced to sing live they would go the way of Milli Vanilli right away and go from fame to shame overnight. The time is long overdue for another musical Renaissance like the British Invasion or even the Punk or Grunge movements, just about anything at all would be better that the insipid, bland, repulsive, drivel that's being spewed over the airwaves these days.

The only exception I am aware of is Lady Gaga, who can write, play piano and sing, really soulfully and on key. And someone who is still around. Christina Aguilera. She can sing and has been since a kid. Lady Gaga is hidden to allow the no talents to thrive and because she has no choice. Well she did until she sold her soul to the devil.

I thoroughly enjoyed your rant, Guitslinger.

Christina Aguillera is the cousin of one of my closest friends and he is also massively talented. Jim has been blind since the age of 9 but that hasn't held him back from being an accomplished multi-instrumentalist,singer/songwriter and recording engineer with his own studio. He is one of the best reggae drummers that I've ever heard too.I am amazed by his drive and ambition and he is probably the person that I admire most of all the musicians I know.He doesn't look at himself as being handicapped in fact he feels that his blindness has given him insights that sighted people would most likely not pick up on. On top of all this he was lucky enough not only to find a girl who matched his wit and intellect but she also is a gifted artist, has a fantastic personality and is drop dead gorgeous.
