I just tried a used Fender Super 60 from Guitar Center and ended up buying it for $230 even. I like the clean tones and figured I could just return it in 30 days if I got bored with it. Was this a good deal at $230? Should I hold onto it or is this amp a ticking time bomb? I worry it will break because it's a tube amp and I got it for a pretty low price. It uses 2 6L6s 2 12 ax7s and 1 12 At7......Thoughts?

As I recollect, the Super 60 was a pretty solidly-built piece of gear with few vices. The $230 purchase price seems eminently reasonable considering the number of features. These amps were available in a number of speaker configurations -- which version is yours?

These were solid performers...once you got over the red knobs and greyish grill cloth! These amps replaced the Concert II, and were I think the first 6L6 amps the new Fender Company came out with.

Nice score for that amount of coin...how about some pics, we love amp porn!

This version has 1 12" speaker. It looks like the original. Sounds good the only issue is noisy gain and volume pots in the gain section. I like the clean channel though. I would post some pics if I knew how...??

Get yourself some Caig De-Oxit electrical contact cleaner. Carefully remove the knobs from the offending pots, spray the shafts liberally, then spin them from stop to stop several times. Repeat as necessary. That should remove any oxidation from the wipers and wafers inside the pots. Re-install the knobs, plug in, turn up, and ROCK OUT.

HTH

To post pics you have to upload them to a hosting site like photobucket, then copy and use the Img button at the top of the post. Once you copy the link and paste it here, while it is highlighted click the Img button up top and it should add the Img at the beginning and end of what you copied.

Or you can search for "Posting Photos".

BTW, Celestion's Vintage 30 is a great speaker upgrade for these amps.

I'll definitely consider that once I get bored with the stock speaker!
