Vids I mean.

Just because the Forum now has that capability doesn't mean that virtually all threads need them.

It now takes forever to scroll through a thread as the vids load. Some are simply vids, with no communication from the person posting whatever.

Maybe it's just a current facination with the new feature and the novelty will die down over time and people will use links again.

Maybe there needs to be a separate forum just for vids.

What are some of your thoughts..??

cheers!

I don't see much lag in loading videos, maybe it's your connection or your PC?

Personally I prefer vids being posted rather than a link that you have to click through to watch. I suppose it depends on how fast your connection is if waiting for them to load is an issue.

what annoys me is where someone leaves a cryptic description and the link and now I have to click the link and go offsite just to find out it was something I wasn't interested in. If you're going to post a link, please tell us where it will take us! :x

While I'm not experiencing much of a scroll-through lag-time,
I do gotta totally agree with this:

At least a minimal introduction and set up would go a long way.
Thanks!

ok, now I think I see what you're talking about Lightnin MN. There's one person in particular who is hitting some of these threads very heavily with embedded videos.

When a whole page of a thread is all videos, I see a little delay in loading, and I'm definitely on a fast Internet connection with a fast computer.

It would be nice if anyone who wants to post more than 2 or 3 videos at a time would post a good description along with links instead.

Personally I prefer links. I'm not having issues with slow site access due to videos .... yet.
Whatever a person can do to minimize their broadband footprint on the site is always appreciated. Clogging up the site when you can just as easily post a link is unnecessary in my opinion.

It's a bit annoying, a few thread are just YT embedded links. If I want wall to wall SRV and Eric, I can jump on YT and get it.

Must say, that strikes a chord. I'm relaxed about it and it doesn't actually cause me annoyance, but when people post a thread that's just a link I very seldom bother to click and pursue it - I don't usually want to wait while a Youtube page loads, perhaps wait for tiresome advertising to finish and then spend several minutes watching a vid, just to find out what it was someone was trying to say.

It's kinda like when cold callers ring up and say, "May I just take a few minutes of your time?" No. You may not.

I think a good principle on the Forum is that if you have something to say - say it! Use links for supporting a point, not for making that point.

'Course, it's easy to ignore, and that's what some of us mostly do. I don't think it's a very big deal.

Cheers - C

Way too much a good thing. A will not deny good stuff has been put up. Four and five videos per post is clogging the bandwidth. You see the user name and you know what is waiting for you. A slower loading page.

Don't have a problem with videos in posts

However I think that when a post contains several pictures and everyone quotes the post Including all the pictures each time , all we get are post after post with 7 pictures and a little "Yup, I agree with that"
This seems to be a really long winded way round of doing things and clogs up posts so much I'm sure some folk get fed up and give up reading it

bump.

This is still happening, and it is really annoying. As I said in one of the affected threads, a vid or two pertinent to the discussion is cool, a page full of the things for no other reason than posting them, is just littering the thread for those who want to follow a discussion.

Please make it stop.
