Alrighty! So about 2 years ago I was helping my friend move into a new house. There was a backyard full of trash, so we were clearing it all out. I lifted up some trash/dirt and saw the F of the fender logo, so I was super stoked. I moved some more trash, and low and behold, twas an 8 string, triple neck, lap steel guitar! I've done a great deal of research on the internet to no avail. It's got "Pat. Pend." Under the fender logo on the headstock, so I figure it must be pretty ancient. Can anyone give me some insight? I'm dying to know more about this thing. It'll also help me find a few parts I need to get this bad boy in working order. Thanks!

A quick perusal through Richard Smith's "Fender: The Sound Heard 'Round The World" seems to indicate that Leo Fender cataloged the first of the triple-neck lap steel guitars in 1949, beginning with the very first official company brochure. This instrument was known as the "Custom Triple Neck" and remained in production until superceded by the "Stringmaster" line around 1953. You'll need to determine which of these guitars you have then proceed from there with further research.
