Dude, what an incredible sounding axe you gotta have, congratulations! :D

Found another cool vid from your band:

In this particular song you've chosen using the Midnight Wine Trans Custom Classic V instead.

Thanks chromeface.

Actually that's my FCS, Violin Burst.
Bad video/lighting makes it look like Midnight Wine Trans.

I am liking the sound of the Squier VM. Still dialing it in a bit. But the FCS still has a bigger/fuller sound.

Here's a better picture of it.

And a better one of me playing it. (had a little fun with the flame shirts last summer)

That bigger/fuller sound came from the onboard active electronics.

The Violin Burst Custom Classic would look better with a tortoiseshell pickguard! :P

With the color of your bass and the maple neck, I have to agree. The white pickguard looks best. I can't believe I'm saying that, tortiseshell pickguards are my favorites.

chromeface is probably thinking how it would look with the Violin Burst and I can see that.
I like tort pg's as well, but some people (not meaning you chromeface) seem to think you can slap a tort pg on any guitar and it will look good. That maybe ok for them.......but not me.
Take that new Squier VM V for example. I 've seen a couple of pics where someone has replaced the black pg with a tort. Just looks out of place to me.
Just my opinion, but the same goes for all colors, textures and designs of pg's. I just think you need to look at the guitar overall to see what really "fits" in.

Just thought I would quickly add that I have thought about a black pg or a black pearl pg to go along with the black peal inlays on the neck.

It's just a matter of taste, nothing else.

If you're happy with the stock guard, keep it.

The idea of putting a black pearloid pickguard to match the block fretboard inlays isn't bad.

The biggest problem is the pickguard size and holes-Fender doesn't sell Custom Classic Jazz Bass pickguards - unless you custom order one from Warmoth.
