With the addition of the Gretsch Honeydipper, the room sort of .............. resonates. 8)

Ahhh! Love 'em! I'd love to hear that one on the left. Looks so ragged! Awesome 8)

By the way, it's probably a bit late to say this, but how are things going in tassie with the bushfires and all? Hope you were out of the way of the situation. It'd seem Australia's quite litterally burning this summer :?

Thanks mate. I appreciate your concern about the fires. I was safe, but not so good for the Tasman Peninsula. That's the way to Port Arthur - just one road in. I think about a hundred homes were lost, miraculously no lives.

I remember that you're a Resonator man. A Regal right? Is it a biscuit bridge or spider bridge? I now have all three types. The Gretsch is the latest. I keep it in open G and the Tricone in open D. It's been really good having the two practice wise, although I really should practice quick changes of the tunings on the same guitar. And the other one, the "Rat Rod", well that's basically retired now.

I know you like Son House, so here's a lesson for "Death Letter Blues" that I found very helpful.

The actual notes are not that hard, you just have to beat the hell out of the guitar to sound anything like the original.

Take it easy man

Yeah man, Son House changed how I saw a lot of things. Probably had the biggest impact on me, musically, since I found Nirvana. Everytime I pick up my resonator I play death letter blues, for hours. Annoys the sh1t outta my family  I have to use a pick though, unfortuanetley, due to my condition. But I still beat the living daylight out of it, that's for sure.

That and John the revelator are probably my favourite song by him.

Regal rc2 duolian. It's gotta biscuit bridge. Usually, I keep it in standard tuning, but whenever I feel I can easily go to open G and D minor. Skip james used D minor alot, I believe. Should probably experiment with other tunings one of these days.

Nice, but more to the point- How's the tone out of that saw?

The saw lady lied. She did not teach me to play a saw.

Thanks Tochai. Interesting Saw-play 8)
It never occurred to me to try and get a sound out of it.
It's only half a saw really. It's a little corroded too.

Anyone got any interesting Resonators? ........ or saws.

Cool room.
I'd love a reso of some sort, but the cheaper ones don't do much for me, but there are some candidates for the future that aren't expensive either.

Enjoy...

G'day Zontar, yeah the spider cone models are a little less impressive than the biscuit ones. There's some nice ones out there for sure. Dean have some nice models. I still have room for more.
I'm itching to do a review on the Gretsch, but unfortunately, it arrived damaged. That is, the cone was bashed in on the bass string side making her 100% unplayable. OUCH !

A new Gretch cone will arrive eventually, but in the meantime, I've fitted a cheap generic cone so I can at least play it. I really like it but it wouldn't be fair to say too much yet. After all, a lot of the hype about the Gretsch range concerns the "Amplisonic" cone. It's stamped into the coverplate.

I'd prefer a biscuit over a spider, but I like spiders too.

I also like the tricones, and would love one of those as well.

I had a good session on the tricone last night, about 6 hours worth. 8)
You can't just noodle around on these. You have to roll up the sleeves, dive in and grab a handful. It's a traditional style guitar and not very comfortable, but the noise it makes is worth it.

I put it on the scales - 9lb 11.2oz.

Still lighter than my Les Paul--but it is cool--I'd like one.
