When we went to the Post Office one day this week there was a big carton there for me and it contained 4 lbs. of authentic 100% Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, the beans were whole although I found out after that you could order fine or coarse grind and medium or dark roast.I immediately ground about 1/2 lb. of it and put on a pot of it.This coffee is simply amazing and well worth the cost, which is just over $15 a lb. Jamaican Blue Mountain is usually over $40 a lb. here and it is nowhere as nice as this stuff, which always made me wonder if it was cut with some other cheaper type of coffee. The coffee is made by Gold Star Coffee. If you are interested in ordering it phone: 1-888-371-5282 or go to the website: http://www.goldstarcoffee.com .I wasn't charged for shipping either. Once this is all gone I'll be ordering a few lbs. of Kona Hawaiian-my favourite by far but I didn't know they had it until I had the other type ordered.

I just poured a cup of Folgers 1/2 Caff, it's a compromise I had to make because my wife can't handle caffeine. It's hot, it's black, but that's about all it's got going for it, the things we do for love  . I lift my mug to you in salute sir, enjoy your coffee, I envy you  .

You guys certainly should check out Ethiopian coffee, brewed as the Ethiopians do.
It was the most fantastic coffee I ever tasted!!

I happen to have a video about how they brew it (from my time in Ethiopia 2006/2007), enjoy, if you are interested (I'm the European guy with the base cap):

In the highlands south of Addis Ababa (capital of Ethiopia) there's the Kaffa region. Coffee originated in Ethiopia and the region gave it its name: coffee (German: Kaffee).

If I'm informed correctly, it made its way via the Arab countries to Turkey, then it was taken over as a "leftover" from the Turkish invasions in European countries a couple of hundred years ago (dunno exactly).

After that it found its way all over the world.

I love coffee and if you get the chance to take part in an original Ethiopian coffee ceremony: DO IT!!!! :D

That Hawaiian company we spoke of wants $11US to ship a pound across the pond. I wanted to try the dark roast in that the medium roast we were given as a gift didn't quite have the punch I like. But I'm not spending $46 for the priviledge. You're not getting Kona at $16 anytime soon. Maybe I'll check out your Jamaican connection. You are better off with the whole bean, grinding it as you need it.

I love Kona, but is pricey as Blue Mountain. I have been relegated to Kona Blend for $6.99 (on sale) at the local store. Their regular list is $8.99, but goes on sale every other week. On special occasion, will buy the 100% from royalkonacoffee.com, in 7 oz package. Trader Joe's, sell what is advertised as 100% Kona, price escalated to the point it was more than I was willing to pay, though lower price relative to what others are selling

Smokin Frets, thanks for posting that video, that Ethiopian coffee looks strong enough to disolve the spoon. We have had two foster children from Ethiopia that we sponsered through the Christian Children's Fund and always buy fair trade coffee because a large percentage of coffee growers and a lot of workers in the industry are just a step-if that-from slavery.

With regard to the price of Kona Hawaiian coffee,we pay about $10 a lb for the grind-your-own fair trade coffee that's not near as nice as the Gold Star coffee so paying $15-$16 a lb. for very high quality coffee seems like a relatively great bargain, plus they have free delivery-in Canada anyway,I'm not sure about the U.S.

best cup of coffee I ever had was organically grown and brewed with spring water. I wish they were all that good.

That's what I thought when I first saw it, too.
Actually it tastes very strong but it doesn't affect your stomach.
Must be the way they brew it.

Contrary to popular belief,it isn't the strength of the coffee as such that causes stomach upset but brewing it too long or using water that's too hot can cause the oils in the coffee to "burn" and become very acidic which consequently causes stomach upset.I find the French or Espresso roasts hard on my stomach because I'm sure that the longer roast times and higher roasting temps must burn the oils to some degree which brings out the acidic quality in these roasts.A coarse ground coffee will yeild a much mellower cup of coffee that a fine grind too.
