GC is, indeed, insolvent, but that's probably not the reason for any short term rise or fall in used inventory.

IMO, one would have to be crazy or *really* need cash *right away* to trade or sell something to GC or Sam Ashe. They will literally not pay you more than 40% of what you can easily get selling on ebay. Like, they will literally give you only $300 for something that is easily sold for $650 on ebay. Not even close to a good deal.

But you must realize GC is a business and has to make money on everything
they are taking the chance that it sets there for a long time or sells right away.
they have a building, empolyees, utilities, inventory ect to pay for each month
no different then taking to a pawn shop in a way

Try doing the best deal on an auto trade in. You're get blasted there too. Business is for the buck, or they wouldn't be there for business. Get real with the manufactures who set the price for new products to start with.

The smart money checks GC online first for the price, then either sells the item to GC for 75% of cash value or craigslists it for 85% of cash value, which is what I do. 75% saves me all the fuss simply selling it to GC and cl'ing it for 85% works for me with the right ad and correct reply. I use an ad on cl that weeds out those who aren't going to pay a no haggle price. But it's win/win either way for me and the buyer; I got more than GC offered me for it, and the buyer got it for less than they would have paid if I sold it to GC and they bought it from GC! Sell your stuff for what it's worth, use that money to get something better. Same with cars. Do your research, find a buyer, it's easy. If you sell your stuff for less than it's worth, that means you are too lazy to do the research and find the right buyer.

I've sold 60 or so items over the last few decades using everything from the recyler, ebay, and cl to resellers like GC. I always get top dollar for my stuff. Currently, when done right, cl is the ticket, no online fees, no bank fees, no shipping fees, good ad ='s right cl buyer, or sell it to a reseller if they'll give you 75% of cash value, which is 75% of retail (used) less 25% to the the reseller, which is fair, no exceptions, 75% or handshake and a walk, go home, cl it for 85% of cash value, win win.

...cars, lol, I worked at local car dealerships selling Nissan, Porsche, Audi, and BMW, plus taking in and selling trade-ins.
