It's not the guitar...it's the artist. Of course, Fender product would be polite.

Thank you so much, Jack!
BTW, I had posted 3 videos before your post, did you miss one?
I haven't made many videos yet, I mainly uploaded mp3 songs but I have a few more:

Resonator guitar blues slide (very mellow and kinda slow):

Some Blues, improvised while checking out one of my Buddy Guy strats:

And one to make you laugh, I bet!!!! (starts after a few seconds of silence)

I must have missed one. I'll look for it. Really enjoyed these too. Liked the Buddy Guy strat video a lot! (video was longer). Also, have you considered calling yourself Howlin Frets? After the last video, you should make it so.

Again, really like your playing. You seem really diverse with your playing.

You've more than one of these guitars, it seems. It's the same circuitry as a Clapton. I know the neck is different and trem is not blocked. Have you played the Lace Sensor Clapton such that you can make a comparison?

I have an '89 Clapton and used to own an MIM Polka Dot BG model whose pickups I swapped out for DiMarzio Heavy Blues which were noise cancelling and preferable to the stock MIM's.

I had hopes that Fender was going to market a new MIA Artist Series BG along the lines of what he is currently playing, but it does not appear to be the case thus far.

I happened to record this pickup comparison video earlier today, and then I find this discussion!

Three different Strats with different pickups.

0:06 AlNiCo 5 single-coils in a Fender American Standard Stratocaster
1:10 Dragonfire DFDG active single-coils in a Squier SE Stratocaster
2:18 Dragonfire "Screamers" humbuckers in a Squier Bullet Stratocaster.

The same Marshall-esque amp model in a Digitech RP255 (JCM800) and jam track were used each time.

The jam track was created by 258lemons, and can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zj2NZ6in6I

Not sure why there's been no telecasters in the thread yet, fixing that now.

Thank you very much, Jack!
Ha, ha, Howlin' Frets, that's cool! :D

As far as diversity goes: it wasn't like this all the time. In fact, I was playing around pretty "blind folded" for many years, playing nothing but rock, mostly my own stuff.

It was around 2002 when I finally "woke up" and started to play different styles.
Then I was traveling a lot and had almost no time for my music for about 5 years, so it took until around 2009/2010 that I started to seriously play covers to improve my playing.

I'm a pure self tought player and never had even a minute of lessons, so all in all it took me many more years to get where I am now than it would have taken me with taking lessons.

If there was ONE THING in my life I want to change by using a time machine, it would be TAKING LESSONS!!!

No, I haven't.
When I was looking for a second Buddy Guy, I almost bought a Clapton with Lace Sensors.
Then I stumbled across a 2 tone sunburst Buddy Guy from '95 and bought that one, without playing the Clapton model.
They both (my Buddy Guys) are 99% identical in sound but my blonde one seems to be a whee bit more responsive in resonance and attack.

I'd love to compare them to a Clapton model one day...
BTW, I lock down my trems as well (no wooden block though, just flat on body).

I decided for the buddy guy just because they are a little rarer than the Claptons. You don't find the US Buddy Guys from the 90s very often, especially the blonde one.
The blonde one was a coincidence, I just fell in love with it without knowing who Buddy Guy was at that time.
The 2 tone sunburst was bought as a backup.

Last one from me, I promise! One of my partscasters with brand new Custom Shop 54 pickups. Couple of sloppy string bends, I'm blaming the brand new strings for that.

Last one from me, too!
Probably the worst of'em all

Timing mistakes and playing mistakes included but I still dare to post it.
(should've warmed up before shooting this! )
The high gain sounds don't sound as fat as they actually are because again I just used my cam mike (like in Test #1).

This is test #2, a one-take-video, improvised on the fly while checking out my then newly aquired Buddy Guy strat, trying to show sounds with higher gain settings. This axe can really smoke, especially in high gain with activated mid-boost:

WARNING: adult content, I used the f-word in the video!

Some really nice chops in there, Frank!
I wish you would post some more finished songs, too. Would love to see them!

Vicious sounding mid boost there! Seems like you can really make that thing scream with a bit of gain on the amp, what rig are you playing through?
