I know this is a Fender forum... We all play Fenders (and/or have owned/played them) and love everything Fender.

BUT...

Have you ever played another guitar that just blew your mind? Something that you just randomly tried out to see what it is, how it feels, and how it sounds?

Yesterday when I was at Sam Ash getting some Ernie Ball 10-42's, I saw a beautiful looking BC Rich Mockingbird in the "used gear" collection. It was a gorgeous looking guitar that had like a honey blond colored birds-eye maple veneer top. The body was mahogany and a neck through body design. Something told me to grab it and plug it in...

OMG - It just....sang.... 8) I know that BC Rich has a long history of making quality guitars with radical looking bodies, mainly for all the wicked headbangers. But this guitar was amazing! I had it plugged into a Fender Deluxe Reverb tube amp with no effects or anything - only a hint of the reverb, and it played so sweet, it was amazing! Then I plugged it into a Fender Mustang amp with all sorts of crazy features and emulation buttons, and ended up setting some button or knob for a wicked, beefy, high gain, "Marshall Stack" type of sound. The BC Rich Mockingbird just screamed and sustained like crazy! I was instantly Carlos Santana playing "Europa" or something you know? Wow... 8)

Long story short - has anyone else ever played a BC Rich guitar? They are incredible!! :D

I had a '79 BC Rich Mockingbird, great guitar, could get any sound. They're not just for headbangers-I bought it as influenced by Elliot Easton and Joe Perry, who were playing them at the time. Very comfortable guitar as well, solid American construction, Koa and maple, Grover stairstep tuners. Neil Geraldo played one as well.

The Mock is a long-time favorite of such artists as Lita Ford and Slash.

I played in a band with a rythym guitarist that had one. He loved it. Was an extremely well built guitar, the parts were all top notch quality, it sounded great, A great guitar and it played like butter.

Cool that you saw one for sale, don't see too many of em around at least not around my neck of the woods.

I played many and couldn't stand any.

Of course, this is merely my opinion where YMMV.

Some Mocks came with active electronics.

Prior to making weird-looking electrics Bernie Rico built classical flamenco guitars.
