At the moment the only thing bugging me (harr harr) is that posting using the iPhone is a real pain, because the nav bar zooms in as well as mobile Safari zooms into the text box one is working in. The nav bar actually obscures the cursor (becomes a blinking blue thing hidden from view).

Steps to reproduce:

1. Surf to forums.fender.com on iPhone (mine is a 4s with iOS 5.1.1)
2. Pick a topic to view
3. Tap on "Post reply" or "quote"
4. After logging in, attempt to make a posting, or try creating a new topic using landscape or portrait mode.
5. Observe the cursor flashing in blue from behind the nav bar / lounge logo

Actual behaviour: The nav bar banner obstructs the view of the text fields, making entering text quite hard as one can't see what one is typing.

Expected behaviour: Entering posts should be possible with the text fields fully visible.

Time to reproduce: Less than 2 minutes
Repeatability: 100%

Screenshots attached.

Hope it helps! :)

Best

Nutter

Although iOS version might be the issue just to be extra-sure have you tried deleting Safari's cache and then killing and restarting the browser?

Hmmm ... it is? If you count pixels it is actually slightly slimmer than our old site nav bar was and is absolutely miniscule on all phones I'm checking here. That's why I'm not convinced we're all looking at the same thing here. Make sure you clear your phone browser's cache and try restarting your phone's browser, then report back? If still having woes would love a screen grab of what you're seeing.

Okey dokey - here ya go:

On the left, looking fine on an iPhone; on the right, the humble working man's Not-iPhone:

Problem: the size of the nav bar only leaves enough space to see a couple of thread titles. Too cramped (though I've a feeling you might have shrunk it a bit in the last few days?). Of course, I can zoom out and see more ... but then the text is too small to read. It used not to be a problem because the bar scrolled up with the page.

A friend says it's the same on his Blackberry. And I guess a lot of other phones out there too.

...Don't you love how all the different platforms, browsers and screens keep a programmer's life fun-packed? :)

Cheers - C

Have to say the layout is looking great now! 8) I don't know if Brad has been tweaking it again, but the bar at the top is in the right place now and looking good :P

Hi Brad,

Thanks for the reply! :)

I cleared all browser data, and it looks a tiny bit better now - in portrait mode I can now actually see the cursor! That's good enough for me for now, though. :-D

Previous version landscape:

Current version landscape (as we can see the curdor has moved South-East a bit):

And then of course the previous version in portrait mode:

And the current version in portrait mode:

Happy for now until you guys will have time to take another look at it later in the year. Thanks for being so caring about this place, Brad!

Best

Fender.com looks real good, real good. The red tab brings it all together. It's way fast too. The fixed nav-bar works real well for the main site, but not the forum.

Some of the spec sheets are missing body species.

urls where personal information is keyed in should be ssl:

http://www.fender.com/promos/2012/strat-is-born/

With the nav bar and red tab locked at the top of the forum page (not the browser screen), 'at 'll fix it!

I'd get it all done before NAMM so the site is primed and ready to go for the NAMM traffic!

Me too!

A suggestion: Vids and pictures. No double posting of vids and pics in replies.

A simple message at the top of the screen when the duplicate vid and pic code is detected would work, save on bandwidth too! (same type of alert when replying to a post and additional replies were made before the user replies)

Outside of the technical difficulties, the site is still smokin' hot fast!
