The site is pretty unusable on my Android phone browser. Of course the old one wasn't great either.

On the desktop browser, the clean lines are nice, but the navigation is cumbersome. Side-scrolling is irritating, and non-visible navigation elements (the ones that don't display on the first click) are essentially buried.

Fender: Check your analytics to see how many mobile phone visitors you have. You really need to look into responsive web design.

Your web design team needs to take some notes from Leo Fender's simple, user-centered philosophy of design.

I'm sure you know what Brad's official position is at FMIC in addition to Forum Administrator. That's why we're all inputting constructive criticism with love.

I'm not on FB, but I follow his Twitter feed.

Nice work, Brad and crew!

Hmm. I don't. Is Brad the webmaster for FMIC?

If so. Sorry if I was harsh. I'm a webmaster, and I know how it can be.

I was trying to surf the site on my phone earlier, and I simply couldn't. Not even possible to use the top-level product navigation. I'm not sure how it's working for iPhone users, but the Android 2.2.1 browser is having big usability issues.

To borrow from W.S.Gilbert one might refer to him as Lord High Everything with regard to the website. A PoohBah with portfolio so to speak.

Just noticed that if you click on the red Fender tab you get another menu, but also don't get the other expanding menus when hovering over a category. Wow, I can make my avatar bigger. :|

If the red Fender tab can be rolled up further with just the word Fender and the pull-down tab showing, that would be perfect!

If your avitar is too large, you can go into your control panel and manually adjust the size under Control Panel/Profile/Avitar/Avitar Dimensions. I set mine to 80 x 79, non-intrusive.

:? Ok Where did the guitar builder go? I miss my creations... :(
+1. Maybe the Guitar Builder is being upgraded and will come back with FULL customization capability!

Has there been a change to color text formatting? It used to be that we could select text in the edit window, click a color from the palette, and the BBCode was inserted automatically. This no longer appears to be the case. We can still enter a color manually "[color=blue]" but the old way was quicker.

Cheers!

I definitely like the cleaner look but I have to say I'm not a fan of the big black bar gobbling up all my screen space. I never once thought it was an inconvenience to have to scroll up to get to those menu items. Other than that I like it very much.

That black bar should really be shrunk down to about a third of that size, it takes up too much room on the screen!

I'm guessing nobody on the dev team tested the site using Opera? ;)

Looks great on most other browsers though. Shame I don't really use them.

Don't get me wrong - I absolutely adore Opera personally and heartily applaud the effort. You've looked at usage stats lately, though? We just literally have to make real world decisions on such matters - do we sacrifice and water down the experience for 970 individuals in order to make it better for 20 to 30 individuals? I have a feeling I'm starting a healthy debate here. :-)
