[...The Wilkinson over-under roller nut is another story as it has generated a number of complaints of rattling. I don't think anyone has pinned down the exact source of the rattles to the satisfaction of all concerned as debates still continue on the subject from time to time but the reports of rattling do persist regardless of the reason why.

String pressure eventually deforms the bearings out of round where in turn, the bearings begin to rattle in their still round sockets.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

All of my Strats, except for the 50th Ann. model have the 6 screw systems. When I take the time to set them up properly,I can do Hendrix covers and songs such as "Star Spangled Banner","Machine Gun" and "I Don't Live Today"-all songs with very heavy and aggressive whammy use-without going the slightest bit out of tune.Getting the mechanism set up in such a way is pretty time consuming and requires a lot of tuning and retuning and trial and error but the end result is just great.Where I'm so used to the old 6 screw system,it just feels more comfortable for me.

Not to be difficult, but I prefer hardtail bridges--I even blocked the tremolo on my '62 reissue Strat...the only "working" tremolo I have is on my 1983 G&L Nighthawk, and I don't install the arm when I play it...

Better sustain, better tuning stability...but I do love to hear certain players use them!

Having said that, one of the "next guitars" on "the List" has a Bigsby...
