I wish there were a Bassmen's and Basswomen's Lounge. So that all the varoius; bass string, bass effects, tone caps, straps, cables, & ect. discussions could be in one place, and not spread out all over the place in: Precision; Jazz, and other. The FSR 'Lounge Bass' thread being a perfect example. And Bass Pants! Just were are the Fender Lounge Bass Pants?

You may, but you must first take the Fender Bassman's Pledge.

I love the sound of Fender basses and will own one some day. It has to have 21 frets and a snake head tuning set up. I'm sure the CS could hook me up. If the lottery will do the same then my bass will be in progress. :D

I would go for a Koa wood or Empress Tele body. No pick guard.

Did I pass the audition? :P

Yes you did. Custom Shop Tele Bass w/no pickguard nailed it. Welcome to the Fender Bassman's Lounge Why don't you go and plug into that Super Bassman over there and please keep the volume outrageously LOUD! Zank-U.

I don't own a bass, but I play guitar through my late-60s Bassman head and cab! Can I join? Or is this a "Bassman" club of a different caliber?

Bassman's Pledge sounds like something that you'd polish your Fender P or Jazz bass and amp with.

I pledge allegiance to the bass
The Jazz and Precision, both are ace!
I warm my tubes before I thump
My bell-like tones are phat and plump
With 300 watts I rumble and thunder
Marshall stacks I rape and plunder
The snare and kick are my best friends
We bump and grind until the song ends

Amen

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Yes I did. Thank you. I corrected my post. Something was bugging me about the word and now I know why. :D

I found this 9 minute long video of Marvin Gaye doing "What's Going On" live, with a bit of improv at the end. James Jamerson is on bass. Besides being able to hear his excellent playing there are a few good shot of "the hook" in action. I had never seen how he used just his forefinger. Watching him do eighth notes was fun. There is one shot where all you can see is his right hand picking the strings. Well worth a watch, IMO. There are only a few shots especially in the first 3 minutes. Enjoy!
