Incredible skills... total lack of personality...

IMHO, he's the 007 of Guitar...

GREAT skills... fully lacking in Emotion and Personality...

Still... I like to watch him play...

cheers!

I think, IMHO, that he's awesome! I really like his work with Black Country Communion too

This guy's spent the better part of the last twenty years slowly crafting his style as an artist and a business person. They're headquartered in my town. It's magic when you can find a partner you can trust and come as far as they have together. Check out his website and see all the pots they have fingers in, not to mention the fact that they came of age owning all the marbles that matter. More power to them.

You've obviously never seen him play live (my wife and I saw him a few weeks ago at the Warner Theater in Washington DC) or seen an interview of him. He is one of the nicest and friendliest people in the business with a sly sense of humor. Oh, and he's a phenominal player too.

Imho he leaves Eric Clapton in the dust on " further on up the road", he plays circles around Clapton. Im not a huge fan of Black Country Communion, but J.B. by himself is unbeatable in his genre, no contest from anyone, the man is a monster, and from what ive seen on youtube interveiws he is as humble as they come, super nice guy, the boy next door type

Clapton has a better voice or he's miked better in that vid! I'd like to hear both on the same microphone! And, I'd like to see them do a guitar-off, no holds barred!

You are missing something. Clapton no longer goes on stage and tries to outdo anyone. Whether he is the guest or has a guest on his stage, he lets the other guy shine.
Joe needed to seize the opportunity to look good while on stage with Eric. E.C. has done it over and over and doesn't need to prove he still can every night. Music isn't a competition.

Hey, I'm not missing anything, bub (j/k). It's my fantasy!

Not to mention, I can see in EC's eyes and body language he's verrrry competitive and takes ego hits throughout guest performances! 8)

Bear in mind that Clapton has already been where Bonamassa is still going and that Clapton and Danny Gatton are, if not THE, then two of Bonamassa's major influences. These two artists are separated by thirty years of what life has to dish out and I pray that Bonamassa never bears the weight of chain which Clapton bears. Age also takes its toll on what we become physically capable of. Clapton matured as a vocalist from the time of his first solo CD and his guitar tone certainly has evolved over that time. He can still hold his own in a jam and admits that he does best when he is pushed. Bonamassa's style and feel are clearly distinguishable and his move to a Les Paul has, IMHO, contributed to that. The AH concert should not be used as a benchmark for Clapton's ability. He was a guest artist that night and it was not his stage to shine on. His presence was intended to be an acknowledgement to JB's standing as an artist, not a demonstration of how far Bonamassa has yet to go. I hope that we all live long enough to see them on stage together 30 years from now.

Differences of opinion herein need to be expressed in an atmosphere of cordiality. Without going into details I can recall some of the nonsense associated with the 'my sensei is better than your sensei' d nonsense I've witnessed in my 'yute'. They too often led to no good. We don't want that bad air in here.

I tend to agree with this. Clapton shows great stage etiquette. He has nothing left to prove and is now seemingly performing purely out of enjoyment.
