I think I'll start drinking again. Just less this time. Sobriety is highly over-rated.

I don't do New Years resolutions, if I wanna change something I change it, not wait for some date in the year to do so. Life is too short to not do something right away.

Fake steak anyone?

I resolve to never again spend $200 modifying a $100 Squier.
I resolve to spend more time practicing and playing than pretending I can do a set-up.
I resolve to find my own talent (might need a microspcope) rather than try to emulate my heroes.

I resolve to quit forgetting to take my amnesia pills.

Happy New Year.

I resolve to knock off at least 20 lbs to get back into my 34" waist dress pants and jeans.
I resolve to play more guitar despite the pain and numbness and cramps in my hands.
I resolve to keep on going to speciallists until I can find one who can properly diagnose the condition that's robbing me of my ability to play any of my musical instruments.I'm sick and tired of going to specialists who check you over and tell you to come back for a recheck in 6 months without doing one bloody thing except for saying that they don't know what your problem is.If the rheumatologist that I go to tries to do this again I'm going to tell him straight up that I'm finished with him and going to see a doctor who knows what he's doing.I haven't been able to play in over two years and this doctor has done SFA to even make a prognosis of what the problem with my hands is.

A fellow musician living in the US who is a doctor and hasn't even seen me has been able to make an educated guess that it's Raynauds Syndrome, that's something that the doctors couldn't even figure out yet-even the so-called specialists.
Please forgive the rant but it's very difficult not to be able to do the one thing that has brought me more joy and satisfaction than anything else in my life and that's not to mention the money I made that allowed me to pursue my GAS habit..Now that it seems to be progressing and the specialists are doing even less for me,I'm pretty steamed under the collar.

A friend sent me this email that i thought I'd share.

6-New Year's Resolutions that are Worth Keeping

"1. You can learn how to say no to people. It’s actually quite easy, isn’t it? You’ll probably be surprised it took you this long to figure out but don’t beat yourself up about it. The important thing is that you got to the point where it finally resonated with you. You can start the year off as a doormat, as a “yes” man, and then slowly start to feel your resolve build. When I was younger, I didn’t know how to say to no to anyone ever and as a result, I spent my formative years getting taken advantage of by just about everyone. Then, seemingly overnight, I hit my limit and decided that I’m going to put myself first and cut the fat. My social life is now decidedly more anorexic than it used to be but I don’t mind. Now that I’ve learned how to create boundaries with people, everyone who’s still in my life is meant to be.

2. You can take more risks. Risks are always nice. It’s no fun being stuck in your ways, especially when you’re in your twenties, and still have a lot of insane living left to do. Risks = potentially amazing things happening in your life. No risks = no sex, no joys, lots of stagnant evenings in bed watching Netflix. Being high-maintenance doesn’t get you anywhere besides living a life that’s permanently constipated.

3. Stop being such a curmudgeon. There are cynical people born every second so why do you feel the need to add to it? Be kinder to people, don’t burn bridges, be more understanding. Is it just me or were people really behaving like dicks in 2012? I was so tired of the constant insults and outrage and annoyance. Take a chill pill, you freaks. You all have your iPads and your HBO subscriptions and dinner parties. Life cannot be the worst thing ever and if its, let me play a song for you on the world’s smallest violin.

4. Read more. Reading is like brain food and the more you do it, the more enlightened you will become. And no, reading Keep Calm And Carry On doesn’t count. Go read something less Soccer Mom Having Deep Thoughts At Her Book Club. (I know I said stop being a curmudgeon but book snobbery is a *thing* and always will be.)

5. Cut out the exes who make your bones ache and your heart hurt. Protect yourself against those who don’t value you as much as they should. Getting treated like $@!& loses its luster after awhile. People don’t tell you the truth, which is that it can actually feel good for an allotted amount of time, it can feel good to see how low you’ll go to feel recognized by someone, but then it just starts to reveal itself for what it is: you not respecting yourself enough to not get walked on all over.

6. Vow to be honest, vow to be ridiculous, vow to make out with as many people in dark bars as you want, don’t worry about what other people think of you because no one’s worth the decision to live your life on a low volume. DO IT DO IT. 2013 IS THE YEAR OF DOING. START NOW."

I'm continuing a resolution from previous years:

To continue eating healthy foods and avoid eating unhealthy foods (meat, processed foods, in-organic foods, gmo foods, no fluoride, no aspartame, i.e., NO chemicals.)

However, I did chow-down on some prime-rib for Christmas and some t-bone yesterday (my roommate likes my cooking...I like my cooking too)!

Not a food nazi, just ever vigilant about what I eat and each year it gets easier and easier to eat healthy!

Statistics show that less than 5% of those who make New Year's resolutions actually stick to them....just sayin'...

I weighed 226 lbs. 2006, lost 56 lbs. by 2009, and have maintained weight between 160 - 169 lbs. since 2009 -- I kept my resolution Mike! Weight goes up around the fall through winter, goes down from spring to summer! It's all a matter of will-power!

One trick I used was to buy 36" jeans during 2006 when I was wearing a comfortable 42" waist. Every year I tried them till they fit. Now 36" jeans fit purrrrfectly!

If I ever over-come some injuries and get back to movin' serious weight, I'll go back down to 34" quickly, maybe 32", we'll see!

I quit smoking cigarettes from 1999 through 2004 and am about to quit again. I'd quit now, but my roommate is a smoker.

...how'd I quit smoking? I stopped smoking in my car first, then my home, then went down to 4 cigs or so a day. One day, I just quit, with an open pack of cigs in the house, didn't touch them till 2004 when tragedy struck. Again, it's all will power!

My suggestion to anybody that's marking a resolution, start off slow and build momentum till you reach your goal, as we do with our instruments!
