Soldered and trimmed on the back, again it pays to test each connection now with a Multimeter, this can also determine if you have caused any shorts to adjacent tracks with sloppy soldering.

Hi Snowy: I'm guessing you found no shorts - that is some tidy soldering! Respec'. 8)

Great work, dude. Carry on.

Ace job Snowy! I appreciate the time it must take to document each step. Another solid build thread 8)

I'm not planning on building my own pedal, but this is fun to watch and learn. When you get done Snowy, you've got to post a sound clip of the pedal.

Snowy really terrific work! Any chance you can take a photo of the "bottom" of the Board with all the transistors on?

Looking forward to your updates

Thanks a lot, here's the bottom after all the components are added including the leads.

Here's all the leads added and each one looped through it's strain-relief hole, I like to leave each lead about 6" long so they can be trimmed to the shortest length possible once the final connections are made.

Image

Here's the 3-way switch setup with the Silicon Diodes on the right side and LEDs added on the left side. This allows 3 different selections of overdrive flavour when you also include the centre position (no diodes).

Image

That's it really for getting the "guts" ready to go, it is now ready to put into the enclosure and make the off-board connections.

I'm about to do a bit of finishing work to the box so I have it ready to go, I have the base colour (Black) done but I want to add some artwork and a clear-coat to it.

Snowy, this is awesome! Thanks for doing this. I think I might have to try my hand at this stuff sometime this year. :)

superb work! I too do not intend to build my own pedal but I am fascinated by the workings of them and your detailed build really gives a lot of insight, thanks!

Thanks!

I did a bit of flamework on the enclosure today, I figured some Green Flames would be a nod to it's Tubescreamer heritage, as usual I went a little too far with the flames, it's a fine line and amazing how quickly flames become Seaweed!

I think once all the knobs etc go on it'll be OK.

Cool build Snowy, flames look good to me.

ps just thought I'd mention seeing as there are folks intent on building their own who might not have a great deal of experience, one of the first things thumped into you in my engineering apprenticeship was to deburr any hole's after drilling, plenty of deburring tools around to save a bit of heartache should any flakes break off and find their way onto the board or sharp edges around the hole slicing the tip of your finger, a drill a couple of sizes up just lightly by hand on the outside would do the job, the inside would need a deburr tool though I'd think............... you can call me old fashioned but I've always liked neat and tidy holes

Thanks ripitup555, not old fashioned at all, that's a good tip on the deburring, you reminded me I should also have mentioned also that when the vero-board is cut there can be some nasty little sharp edges on the copper strips, so when cleaning up the cut edge with a file, a light run over the edge with the file held at a slight angle takes those edges off nicely.

RRR, will do. I have built this one before so hopefully there are no nasty surprises.

Snowy you are very humble, the flames look great. Can't wait to see the finished product

Thanks sohara,

I shot a few coats of Clearcoat onto the enclosure and once that was dry re-installed all the hardware, here's the external finish of the enclosure completed.

Now it's onto completing the internal connections from the board to the switches, Pots, LED, Power and In/Out Jacks.
