Roger Mayer is still making the same pedals that he made for Jimi at his factory in Britian. His Octavia and most other pedals retail for about 220 Euros which I believe is about $280 US-a very reasonable price when you consider the cost of boutique and the Dungplop Jimi Hendrix pedals that try and emulate his pedals. His incredible wah wah pedal costs considerably more but it puts all other wahs in the junk category-it's that great.I have asked Roger for advice and suggestions and have contacted him several times over the years.Roger is a very gracious, obliging and humble man despite having near deity status and was quick to answer any of my queries.

Jimi used the banjo string trick while playing the "Chitlin Circuit" in the southern states but switched to super lights when they first came out in the late 60s.I have used them since then too and I can still get an extremely heavy sound from my guitars,so much so that people are quite surprized to see that I'm using such slight looking strings. The only allowance I may have to make to my EQ is to turn up the presence on my amps a tad at times.

Temperature!

I understand that, I just didn't think the variation between a red and other spots would be that much that it would affect the guitar. Learn something every day.

I've been playing under spotlights for over 40 years and have never had one cause tuning problems. In order for temperature from a light to affect tuning the player would almost have to be touching the strings off the spotlight and even then it would have to be of massive Wattage to generate that much heat.

One night when we played out,the guys who owned and operated the light show we used had mistakenly bought an infrared heat lamp and placed it in the footlight box directly beside me.Although it didn't put my guitar out of tune it had my right leg par-broiled by the time that the set was over and they could swap in the right bulb.
