Moby Grape was a blues rock outfit in the middle to late '60s from the San Francisco scene. I saw them at Aaron Russo's Electric Theater (aka Kinetic Playground) in spring 1968 on the same bill as Rotary Connection:

Nice pull Rollie. Moby Grape had a song called Omaha, that I've always liked. It's not blues, but it has the California sound from the period, similar to Spirit and a few others. I was still back in the cold Midwest at the time, just dreaming about the coast.

I liked Moby Grape before I ever heard their music because I thought that their name was probably the coolest of all rock band names but when I finally heard them their music got me hooked too.

Re Shuggie Otis: The latest Vintage Guitar Mag.-October-has a one page feature on Shuggie in its First Fret section.BTW this issue has a pretty in depth article about the husband and wife team of Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, another great feature for blues fans.

Re Roy Buchanan: Nobody could ever tear up the neck of a Tele like Roy could,it was so natural to him that it was like an appendage that he was born with.He could coax more sounds from just a Tele and a Fender Twin Reverb than most of us could with a full compliment of pedals.

What is the rotating slide he's wearing on his finger? I've never seen that before.
