Man you really need to grow up and face the fact that we live in a very differing world that America does not present a microcosm of.

No one is calling for a complete ban on handgun ownership. No one is calling for a complete infringement of your constitutional rights.
And you should really stop listening to people that say anyone is. That portrays a close-minded seeking for justification of your own paranoia, Nothing more, nothing less.

What you face in your country is a situation where a battle must first be won in the media, then presented to congress. It makes for a very undemocratic government. However you must recognize that you too are subject to the same media that congress rely on to deem worth to an issue.

And for what it's worth. In my country 16 kids were shot in school in 1996. We outlawed the ownership of all cartridge ammunition handguns after that. There have been no school shootings since.
I, as a man, defend mine regardless of the law. Hang me for doing so. No jury or judge could cast shadow on my conscience on that. Damn the consequences, mine mean more to me than law.

Despite our more stringent laws, I could lay my hands on at least three pistols for sale within a 5 minute walk from my house, quite illegally and for the price of a weeks food shopping. Americas problem isn't so much gun ownership. If anyone wants a gun, they can get one. If they want it bad enough.
It's the poor policing, lack of community funds, it's the lack of mental health care and lax ownership laws in many states. As much as you need to reign in ownership criteria you need to empower those that would take illegally owned guns off the streets. You, like every other nation are fighting a battle on two fronts.

You have to pass a test and take out insurance to drive a car. They don't let loonies do it willynilly.
Why not the same for gun ownership? It ain't so unreasonable when you think about it.
It's the nonsense idiots that seek an extreme view that cause nothing to change.

So how does that stack up against your ban pharmaceuticals campaign? I really don't see how the two relate. Only that someone doesn't have the presence to see through what they are told. Who ever that is by. We in Blighty certainly haven't faced genocide.
