Good Afternoon Folks ;-)

Long time lurker, but first time poster ....

I have been playing guitar for a good 11 years or so.

I have been 'collecting' them for the last 4 of those years, and have a total of 5 axes so far, along with a Banjo, Ukelele and a Mandolin!

I am looking to purchase my next guitar after months of saving, and I would ideally like to buy a cool Fender, with the intent to play (of course), but to keep it in great nick and contrary to the rest of my equipment, for it to rise in value.

I have looked a bit into 'Investing' into guitars, and have come across the Fender 50th Anniversary Jaguar, which I'd probably choose the Lake Placid Blue.

Is this guitar Limited Edition, and is the value likely to rise over the course of few decades ?

'Cause if it is, it may help my case to buy it, against my partner who feels I have far too many already!?

Mad Eh

Any opinions / answers very welcome

Cheers

Pete

 But It :!:  And enjoy playing it. If it doesn't go up in value in 25 years, oh well. Sure seemed like a good idea at the time.

It's hard to say if any of today's guitars will be valuable classics in years to come but it's very doubtful that even if they do they'll appreciate to the degree guitars of the 50s and 60s etc. did.Whether or not the 50th Ann. Jaguar will become a highly valued classic,it's still a guitar that's very much worth buying. If I didn't already have my own 1965 vintage Jaguar,I'd certainly buy one.Go ahead and buy one you won't regret it and I doubt very much if you'd ever want to sell it anyway.

A worthy investment is a custom shop guitar that is on the high tiered value.. However, putting your money in a savings account is also a worthy investment.

I would say no, to be honest. Yes it will have some collectibility, however if it was a customshop limited 50th anniversary for example (hypothetically talking) it will have more chance of 'investment status' than regular line guitars..

If you really want an investment guitar, you'd buy it, leave it in it's shipping container for maximal value, store it in ideal conditions, never play it, and in ~40 to 60 years, it would be worth something.

It is impossible to tell if a Jag will be popular decades from now. If it became as popular as a Strat or Tele, then your investment would be worth more. If it isn't popular, then it would be an interesting antique.

Buying an unpopular color would probably yield more value than it simply being an anniversary Jag in the future.

Welcome to the Forum Pete! A Fender Jaguar is an excellent solid body electric guitar the 50th anniversary model is a special version of that guitar. I'm not sure of it's investment potential though. If you keep it in good condition the guitar should hold it's original dollar value. Let us know what happens. :D
