An unrecognized great passed on.
Not the most flowery commemorative writing. But one that certainly captures the spirit of the man.

Can't believe it's been 10 years already. Joe was one of my favorites, I regret I never got to see him live.

Thanks for the reminder, Nick. I really loved his music, too bad I never saw him live.

Cheers

David

I'm late again Niki, thanks for posting. Joe Strummer is missed greatly. When I first heard him and the clash I thought, music moving forward into new rocking territory. R.I.P. Joe.

Aside from being a gifted musician and song writer Joe Strummer was a man with a great social conscience and empathy for the underpriviledged and downtrodden. To me his contribution and hard work making this world a better place for those who are living on the outer fringes of society, far outweighs his massive contribution to the music of the 70s and 80s.For his altruistic actions he was on the same level as John Lennon and other socially minded rock heroes.God Bless him.

BTW: I couldn't help but notice a story in the sidebar of the Mirror story about Kenneth Trotter-the pedophile,it was just chilling what this monster did and as far as you could get from the type of person Joe Strummer was and it was ironic that they put his story on the same page-or maybe they did that on purpose.
