Hey guys, about a month ago I recorded that acoustic song that I wrote for the Battle of the Blues finals. Except this time, I wasn't playing under any stress or time limit. So it's more how it was supposed to sound.

My friend who's a sound engineer helped me get it all together, and he mixed and mastered it. It was recorded at the local community college and I just played my new Gibson Songwriter Studio.

Here it is:
https://soundcloud.com/rebeccalaird/battle-of-the-blues-accoustic

I also think I need a better name for it rather than "Battle of the Blues Acoustic". :)

Always had a soft spot for the Gibson Songwriter series, there are passages there that sound as though you're playing a small harp.

Thanks for sharing,

Great tune , great playing & sound ! Perhaps the title should contain words like ''train'' and/or ''steam'' ? Just what crossed my mind........

Cool song Texas, sounds great, thanks for posting. Acoustic made me think natural so, natural something or something natural or naturally something or something naturally for a title. :D

Wow Becca, that's some cool tune and great finger pickin'.
Holy smoke, I love the "gallopping" part of it (not to be expected when listening to the intro).

As far as the title goes:

"Dancing Grashoppers in a Cotton Field" came instantly in my mind.
or
"Rushing home from Work"? (Excited to get back in your lover's arms) kinda thing
or
"Cotton Balls Tumblin' "

Oh well, I bet you'll find a great title ;)

Becca, you rock!

May I suggest you keep the word "Battle" in the title. I found it quite à propos in describing the firey finger-picking action.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers!

Miss Laird... Its a shame thats not what the judges heard the night of the competition. You should call this
"Let some other sucker go first so the sound man can use him to set his levels with...Blues".
I'm watching you...

You know, you're the second person to suggest that. The first time I was thinking, nah, "Battle" isn't bluesy enough... But now you have me rethinking that...

That would be a very appropriate title! Maybe a little on the long side though.

 or we could shorten that a little bit, and have it still signify the incident. Perhaps "Bad Luck Blues" or if you like the idea of having battle in the title "Battle of Bad Luck" or "Bad Luck Battle". Just thinking out loud.
Oh, and by the way, the song is exceptional! Keep it up!
