This may sound silly as I am not a professional musician by any means, but I want to send a song to Quentin Tarantino or whoever in his angency deals with that sort of thing.
I can't seem to find an official website, so i am stabbing in the dark on the net.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to point me in the right dirction? I am not expecting anything. Even if he listened to it would be good enough for me.

Thanks for humouring my crazy idea!

Hello Yoda: Tarantino's agent is Mike Simpson at the William Morris Agency. That's how you'd go about trying to reach him.

The likes of Quentin Tarantino get sent A LOT of material of all kinds by all manner of people. I wouldn't hold your breath. There again, someone sometime might send him something he likes, so...

Good luck - C

Hi Yoda,

The kinda crazy thing is, the producers, (or their agents), recieve sooo many submissions simply because there are so many brilliant, (and sometimes not so brilliant,) people trying to present their creations. Music, scripts, acting - it's all the same thing.

Without some kind of connection, the chance of having it seen are sadly but understandably, low.

Don't want to rain on anyone's creative parade. And definitely keep trying.

Just wanted to point out the value of developing relationships within the industry. :)

Good luck, and
Peace!

FOGETABOUTIT !!

If you're not a member of ASCAP, your song will NEVER be heard... All of Hollywood supports the Union and It's members !!

On the other hand, if songwriting is something you're into... join ASCAP. It's just a one-time $35 membership fee.

cheers!

I agree that Hollywood is highly unionized. I have been an I.A. Member since 1980. Not sure how joining 450,000 ASCAP members would help get your music to the producer though. And as far as producers go, they pretty much despise unions!

The only way that I have ever heard of a script being read was because of a personal contact within the producer/director group. The same goes for music I would guess.

But you just never know...so best of luck!!

Hiya Gridlok: hmm, different in different sectors, I guess. My wife is an agent; hers is a small, specialised agency yet she still gets sent about 5000 unsolicited manuscripts a year. I can tell you, every single one of them gets read and every one gets a reply.

Mind you, out of 5000 submissions she may take on as many as one a year. So the odds still ain't good! But at least folks do get their material looked at.

BTW, a little tip for Yoda and anyone else. When someone is receiving mountains of unsolicited offerings (we can only imagine what Tarantino's agent's mailbag must be like...) then the covering letter is vital. Keep it very short, sober and to the point, is the golden rule. Smartipants wording, jokes, hilarity, eye-catching stunts, pushiness and general attention-seeking are the sure and instant way to get yourself the automated rejection letter...

Again, good luck - but don't give up the day job - C
