Ow. My wife had shingles several years ago. Fortunately it was a mild case and she got over it fairly quickly with the right meds. Good luck and feel better. :D

Ouch. Wish you a speedy recovery , though it may take some time. I had it , a couple of years ago. I was lucky not to get it in the face , but behind my shoulder - at a point that was impossible to reach - and it was itching like h... But after some time it was gone . So my best advice is : Buy DiMarzio Twang Kings instead of the SD's 8)

Cheers , mate !

+1!

Had a mild case myself in the mid-90s. Only lasted a few weeks, but itched, burned, and hurt like the dickens. One of my neighbors has been suffering from bad case a couple of years ago, with frequent reoccurring flare-ups.

Peace and health in the season.

Hi Alan: almost everyone on this thread seems to have had shingles a couple of years ago - in completely different parts of the world. Weird - what gives?

A couple of years ago I had opthalmic shingles. It hurt a lot and made you feel like a leper for weeks. Not fun!

Still, if I remember right it's hopefully not very serious so long as it is confined to either the left or the right side. It's when it's on both sides you have to watch out.

Whatever; a pain to have it over Christmas. Friendly vibes coming to ya: hang in there, Big Fella. :)

Cheers - C

Hi Alan,I was just reading about shingles today while waiting in the doctor's office. The report said that 1/3 of people will eventually have some form of shingles.I hope that yours are the milder type and that you're rid of them soon.

Man that sucks, I had them about 2 years ago... all over my chest, back, and left arm. no good. and it was on some holiday...don't remember which. maybe the 4th of july. had to find some third rate 24 hour emergency clinic to go to. terrible stuff. wouldn't wish it on anyone. There's two kinds of people in the world...those who have had shingles...and those who will someday :)

My father is as tough a man as ever walked the earth, and shingles reduced him to a quivering lump of flesh!

There is a vaccine available that you get at 60 years old.

Supposedly you are susceptible to shingles if you had chicken pox as a kid.

Wish you a speedy recovery!

Alan, Chicago mojo headed your way for a Merry Christmas! I'm sorry to hear about the shingles, I'm waiting for mine I guess. Liking the SD pup cheer, it should work! Feel better Bros, it goes away.

I had it several years ago on exactly 1/2 of my head. Bourbon does help. Or not. Who remembers? It got into my eye and crossed my optic nerve with my anal nerve and gave me a poopie outlook on life. Bad. A guy at work delighted in short bridging an elevator door and having me hit my head on it. (Blind spot because of hard hat.) I pray for him a lot. To get it. :D

...I've got a sty in my left eye, one that healed already in my right eye.

My roommate is a bartender, she brought it home, didn't respect my contact lens area and threw her junk there. whamo. I'm using salt and hot water to relieve the condition.

I've been to the doctor and dentist often, haven't had shingles yet. It was my dentist's office that suggested the salt treatment for the sty instead of antibiotics while I was there getting a crown re-installed a couple of weeks ago, good call.

I wonder if the salt treatment works for shingles! ...if somebody else gets shingles, try the hot water and salt and let us know how it goes!

Bugs spread via poor hygiene. I wash my hands often and keep my hands off my face and body parts unless my hands are double sanitary.

Bourbon? ...I came to California for the the cheese, the UK Bluecheese! 'at 'l fix it. lol!
