So the amp is in for surgery, I want two volume controls foot switchable between the two levels. An easy mod but I'm not happy desoldering on circuit boards.
So I took my amp off to Matterhorn amplifiers. As they build quite probably the best sounding JTM/Super Lead amp, I've heard.
Got the call off em this morning that they were starting surgery on my amp and where do I want the other volume control and switch socket.

So, sick of biting my nails I decided I'd better make a footswitch as I'm far too tight to pay £20 for one.
So

Plenty of room to add an LED later. Though I doubt I'll need one.

Well that killed about seven and a half minutes.
But once it's back, I'll be set. No need for anything other than my amp on stage. Guitar>Wireless>Tuner>Amp.

Plenty of room inside that box. It's possible to place another delay or reverb pedal there :D

That's a nice switch. What type of amp are you getting modded? Is that all you need in the box or are you adding other stuff? Reason i ask is it looks as tho' the box is marked up to be drilled for a couple of controls.

Ah I was going to bung one of my fuzz circuits in there years ago. But decided it was a lot easier to use a bigger box. The modded amp is a 2203KK. It already has more gain than anything else out there and a very very good noisegate built in. Now it also has switchable volume controls. So no more cluttered stages full of pedals that didn't really do the job (just added gain which I didn't need instead of volume).
So now, I can thrash the bejabbers on the rhythm and have ample volume for solos too.
Ace eh.

I'm thinking of sticking my wireless receiver in the head box too. Look at either powering it of the 6.3v heater tap, or spurring off the power socket to the existing adapter. Gotta think about that one though.

Nik are you planning on painting that switchbox? Do you have a fancy name you want to call it? maybe need a logo?

Loud, it's the loud button.

But mate, you did such an ace job of Xhefri's buzzard logo. Please forward any idea you have.
Also whilst we're about it. I wouldn't mind getting a new covering on the front of my amp. Get rid of that tribal nonsense.

If you have any ideas for that???

Nik, I've always loved the plain clean look of the JCM's normal covering. If it were mine I would likely go with that. (I agree, i don't like the tribal background.)

Either that or I would recover the whole head in Levant Green and go for this:

Lemme kick around some thoughts for your loud switch.

Louder the better mate. It's not getting an LED. I'll easily hear when the thing is on. So as bright and loud as possible the better.

Gregarious, technicolour yawn is the look I think would be best for a dark stage. And yeah you're right about the front covering. I think that grey from the mid 80's (note the horizontal inputs) was about the best thing Marshall came up with since the Bluesbreaker weave.

It was a full on dog, goat, Amazonian pigmy 3 way wrestling match.
The home made router table was a helpless victim of their path of destruction.

Yeah haven't used that site in a year. I return to find it populated by knobs.
Don't think I'll be sticking that one out for long.

So what do you good folks think to this for an idea.
I've a delay pedal that I do like for solos. And an octaver which is really great for getting that Sex Pistols marching stormtrooper rhythm sound.
I really don't want these pedals at my feet and to be tap dancing for solos.
SO I was thinking of doing a similar thing to this footswitch to them.
Put a jack socket coming from the in/out poles on the switch in the pedal. Then form some kind of junction box, so that one switch activates those two effects and the volume boost on the amp.
Do-able?

 Slash Tonez? You mean you don't want Slash tone?

Oh meant to say; that's a fancy drill bit in the pic of your Makita 8) it's like a graduated drill bit, what's the right name for those? I might need to invest in one in the future when i start building stuff.
