hi , i picked up a squier standard telecaster last night for playing slide on , it's one of the walnut stain models , it's in great condition and appears to be made of mahogany , or a similar species) and has a humbucker in the neck (that's coming out , i have a set of mim pups to put into it) i'll get a pic up later , cheers
Alan

The standards are a step up from the affinity models and should work well for slide. (better tuners and pups).

The deluxe Squier models are even a bit better, IMO.

Congrats Alan, these Squier Teles are great guitars and well worth the price, they are far better than most guitars in their price range.

Congrats and I bet you won't be disapointed.

Just received my Squier Vintage Modified V Jazz bass saturday and I'm amazed at how well it plays. Pups are okay, but I may replace them sometime down the road.

Fender is doing a pretty good job with their Squier line and in that price range I don't think any manufacturer can match up with 'em.

Enjoy that Tele.
