I tried to get advise from the Gibson Forum on this. What a nice place with warm pleasant Forumites to offer advise to a newbie with a question on a Gibson...

Anyhow, I am going to pose the same question here and maybe one of our Forumites might be able to direct me into the right direction.

Some people here know that one of my favorite mods is locking tuners. Some might know that I recently purchaced a 2012 Gibson Les Paul Studio Firestorm with Satin Finish. It has Klunson tunners. I am wondering what locking tuners will fit this guitar with zero drilling? I know Kluson makes locking tuners, are these the only ones, or is there something different that will be as good as the Schaller's I have ony by beloved Fenders?

Any help is appreciated.

That's a tricky one. Stewart Mac has specs online, you could measure yours and match up the different tuners that would be a direct fit.

I saw your post in Gibson Gear section and I answered it. I think someone else did too,

anyway, in this post you actually mentioned you had Klusons, so good chance you're all set, I did read some of the reviews, and I do see a few ppl that did have to mod their guitars, in one case it was an R9, and for a reissue that seems a reasonable assumption to me.

I also see folks with studios and standards had little trouble with the upgrade, or at least didn't mention anything about modding.

MF will take the return anyway if you just can't make them work, so while that is a hassle, at the end of the day, you at least wouldn't be stuck with them.

Good luck.

Hi guys: to the best of my knowledge Alan is correct. rkreisher, if your tuners are the vintage keystone type Klusons then I believe this is what you need:

http://www.wdmusic.com/tpk_3_3_25_64_lo ... ickel.html

Those are nickel; these are the same thing in chrome:

http://www.wdmusic.com/tpk_kluson_3+3_2 ... b3l_c.html

Or, if you have a different style of tuner button I expect you'll find its match on this page:

http://www.wdmusic.com/tonepros_kluson_tuners.html

Gotoh also produce several vintage style locking tuners with a range of buttons that fit that fixing screw configuration - but if you already have Klusons you might as well stay with them, I'd have thought?

If, on the other hand, you want modern type locking tuners such as Schallers, Sperzels or Gotohs, well, you simply can't fit those without drilling new holes and probably reaming out the pegholes as well. It's do-able, but I wouldn't go that route if I were you. Not at all in keeping with the guitar.

Further questions, just shout. Always happy to help, here on the ultra-friendly Fender Forum!

Cheers - C

I don't know which ones Gibson uses on it's standard or custom models but you can look for ones from there. Custom are the best. I don't mean expensive ones but in the mid range price
