Ravi Shankar was another musical hero of mine,I have a pretty good representation of his music throughout the years. As with most people, I heard of Ravi through another hero and mentor-George Harrison-but unlike a lot of people who found his ragas, talas and improvisations too strange and foreign to their ears,I immediately took to it and embraced it fully even back when I was a teen.It wasn't only Ravi's music but Indian music in general was/is fascinating to me and I find his music especially comforting and soothing. I often put on a few of his CDs on a really warm and still summer's day-when the Missus is gone out, she's not at all fond of it.I find that it's just perfect music to listen to when you just want to do nothing but relax,it just sooths every muscle and pore in your body-well mine anyway.Tomorrow I'll be playing his music all day.Now this time of year will be especially sad for me because besides losing George on Nov. 29,2002 and John on Dec. 9,1980,I now have Ravi's death added to the list.George and John were no doubt waiting at Heaven's Gate to welcome him.God bless you Ravi-thanks for your gift of beautiful soul soothing music to the world.

I listened to him a lot in the late 60's, early 70's. I'd fall asleep for the night, with the headphones on, as Ravi's music played.

We owe a great deal to his art and have his legacy in so many varied forms including his very talented daughter.
