Can't beat this amp for the money! And I love that it has reverb. And a blue jewel!

I love playing this amp and do a lot of low volume clean song writing on it. The light touch of reverb makes this amp so pleasant to work with. Warm tubey voodoo and the ambiance of space. I do find it lacking in treble at low volumes. The tone and gain are very linked. I just play on my Tele bridge pup. The clarity of that pup works in ways that make playing through this amp inique. I have my tone set at complete clockwise setting. My gain is t 2 and volume at 4. Reverb at 4 also. If the volume goes up a little backing off of the reverb.

I do have a Weber Signature alnico ribbed coming. It was supposed to come Friday, but the snow created problems. UPS has not given me a new date yet. The ribbed Weber alnicos are brighter than the smooth and break up later. I have the gain switch for my break up control. I have a tung sol 12ax7 with the package coming too. Another experiment. The tube is really for my SCX2 amp.

During this past summer I had a GC salesman talk me out of the V5 in favor of a little VOX TV4. I don't have the VOX anymore (I traded the VOX for a Super Champ XD) so I' m just starting to get interested in the V5 again.

I just love all those incredibly voiced small amps from 5 to 20 watts. Thanks for the posts guys.

I have a Super Champ X2 and the V5 Bug. The SCX2 is an amazing amp and value. The clean channel alone is worth the price, IMO. The effects onboard to add to the clean channel is a gift. The bug just has the reverb, but that was huge in why I chose it. I only use a touch of reverb for some space in my sound. The Bug is good in the early stages. Crank it and it is cheesy. I don't go there. Another selling point of the Bug was having the El84 instead of a 6v6. A subtle tone difference. The type A amp lets you swap different power tubes in to experiment without having to bias. This ability is another level of involvement with ones sound.

These smaller amp have really allowed young and old (especially old, LOL) to enjoy the magic of tubes. Even if SS gets tubes perfectly, it was the magic of tubes that were the models. I eat organic food and enjoy the organic sounds of tubes, especially the type A amps.

I think a DanElectro Cool Cat tremelo box will go great with my Bug. Under 40 dollars. Sounds like the perfect compliment for it.

I have a Mustang l and it is my late night go to and recording amp. Another great amp and buy. Aux in where the others don't have it.

I got my Weber Signature 8" alnico 15watt speaker to day for the bug. I have been unable to crank it but lower volumes are working. First the Weber adds so much more high end, but there is some loss of low end response. The Bug speaker has some serious junk in the trunk for the bass end. I also went with a 8 ohm speaker for more dampening when quiet. The Bug speaker is 4 watts. I may put the Bug speaker back, but want to give the Weber some time to break in. I also went for the ribbed one for more high end, because the Bug is a little dark in tone. Perhaps the warmer smooth cone would have been a better choice. Might buy one at some point. Loving the amp.

I went back to the stock Bug speaker. It had better bottom. Put a tung sol 12ax7 in it. Wow, really brightened it up without any loss of bottom. Improved the sound immensely. I look forward to cranking it later on in the day. I had bought the tung sol for my Fender SCX2 amp. I liked the stock groove tube better. I'll put a WGS G10C in there when I can.

I play the Bug every day switching between the stock and Weber signature Alnico, which I have sitting in the box it came in, propped up with a t-shirt for the right angle with a long enough speaker cord to just change speakers. I like the high end clarity but not the lack of low end. I found a Y adapter I had. A mono male with two mono females. This allowed me to play both the Weber and the stock Bugera speaker together. The Bug speaker is 4 ohms and the Weber is 8. Bugera says no loads under 4 but I went and tried the 3 ohms load a 4 and 8 ohm speaker in parallel produces. No problem with that. The sound of the two 8" speakers is heavenly. Each one excelling in a different frequency spectrum. The doubled speaker surface also widens the sound. Now I have to build a little extension cab for it. The sound is really sweet. My Danelectro cool cat tremelo lends some old time goodness to it. The type A tube sound is a world all its' own.

I built my cab from some really high grade (Baltic Birch?) 3/4" plywood that was laying around. I made it small and it sounds great!

I used some fabric to cover the speaker. Not as transparent as it should be. Tomorrow I will put some screen there instead. Here is a pic of it now.
