The next minute you're down in the floor and they remove your appendix. I am I the only one with a major issue with male catheters? I hate those things!!! Oh well, they got it in time and now I just need rest.

Glad they got it before it ruptured. That can be nasty.

I had mine taken out many years ago. They gave me a spinal and I was awake through the entire procedure. My surgeon told me that I spent the entire surgery telling dirty jokes and they had to stop several times to quit laughing. I remember hearing my surgeon say "Holy $hit!" When I asked him later what that was all about he told me that my appendix was 8" long and was strangling my large intestine.

Hope you didn't laugh too hard at my story. Ouch.

Thanks, is does hurt to laugh

I've been put under the way you are describing before, and I am afraid to know what I said.

I thought it was a virus at first but then after a few hours realized, this was not like any virus I had ever had. A little voice in my head said this time was different. My wife was shocked when I asked to go to the ER. She did not believe me at first. I feel blessed to have had the presence of mind to go in (I'm stubborn), and the resources to get the help I needed.

Catheters are the WORST!
I feel your pain.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Catheters are not good...

I recently had spinal surgery and had to have a catheter straight after.

A week later my bladder stopped working due to the surgery which meant I needed two more over a week. I then had to self catheterise myself at home...not good, not good at all. Especially the two urine infections I got as a result. I was given the all clear yesterday so I'm happy.

Its been a bad couple of months!!!

BUT I'm glad your op went well and Blueskys story made me laugh.

Relax and know that you wont need a catheter for a long long time.

Tom

This may or may not be the case. I just got approved for another surgical procedure I need today. And, I need to schedule it before my very high deductible resets. When it rains it pours. Crazy thing is I will need this one every year or so until they come up with a permanent solution. It's a B/L Lumbar RF medial branch burn (L1-L4) if anyone has had it done before. They do two procedures one week apart, left side then right side. I know a lot of other forum members have medical issues as well, I was surprised when I realized how many here have ongoing issues. If you think about it we are kinda like partcasters. I guess that's better than calling us the old fartcasters.

Sorry to hear it Deluxe

I have a feeling after a google search that I have had the same procedure, although mine was called radio frequency denovation. I fractured my L5 in a car accident when I was 18 and I've had problems ever since.

Unfortunately the procedure didn't work for me, however, the nature of my injury means that the chances of success are slim. My vertebrae literally shattered to half its original size causing quite a lot of scar tissue and of course nerve damage. Saying that I was a very lucky, lucky young man. I wont lie the procedure was not very pleasant but well worth it for the chance of pain reduction. I was told that sometimes the results of such a procedure can go to 18 months with some patients so fingers crossed for you.

I'm not sure whether this new surgery I had six weeks ago has been successful, however, it was needed to ensure my long term health.

I'm still not sure if it is the same procedure but if so I didn't need a catheter and I was awake during the whole thing (Watching the doc position the electrifying needles on the x-ray machine was a strange feeling).

Good luck and my fingers are crossed for you.

Tom
