Today I put a set of Rev. Willy's Mexican Lottery Brand strings on my Jimmie Vaughn Strat.Since I've gotten this condition in my hands my tolerence and stamina for playing has plummeted and often I can't get through just one song. For over 40 years I've been using .008-.038 strings and strictly D-Addarios for well over 30 of them. The Re. Willy's are .007-.038 but the other gauges are also super slim they are: .007, .009, .010, .020, .030, .038 .For such thin strings they have incredibly good and strong tone that's not too bright and not too dull, just a well rounded tone.Where thestrings are so thin though, they do have a drawback, they are so thin that the slighest variation in pressure on them or the slightest bit of a bend will cause the string to go off key.Your touch has to be absolutely spot on and there's no room for error, especially when making a chord.Where they are so touchy, they wouldn't be suitable for a novice unles he/she had another guitar to gig or jam wwith because using these strings without getting very used to them will make you sound ridiculously out of tune and consequently probably throw everyone else off.

I played Angel and Little Wing with these strings and my fingers didn't tire or cramp up or do anything detrimental that they usually do so at first blush they appear to be pretty good for me.They are great for lead work-but then again there's a learning curve involved here until you get used to the elastic band like tension of the strings.I played the intro to Voodoo Child(slight return) aand I didn't even have to think about the bends as they almost bent themselves.I can hit the E on the 9th fret of the G string and bend it up to an A with no exertion at all and I'm sure that a B or even higher would take minimal pushing to achieve. All in all things are looking good for these strings so far and I'll be able to do my heavy bends again without making my fingers bleed.

Wow .... 7s.
I haven't even heard of 7s in decades.
Glad to hear they're gonna work out for you.
:)

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Wow. Sevens. I assume you've done all the medical checking and that, so I won't offer any suggestions.
I changed my strings and brand the other day too. On my last trip to the states I got a (deep breath) thinline telecaster modern player deluxe. Not sure about deluxe.... had 10's on it. I got a set of Cleartone 11's for $9 at GC and decided to put them on and see how long they would last (I live in Thailand near the beach, and it is murder on guitars, strings, anything metal. Strings usually are good for three weeks max.).
Was I surprised what the strings did. Seems they made everything better on that admittedly inexpensive guitar. Rich, full tones... you name it, it added it. stays more in tune also. I use a Mini 7 for an amp most of the time (haul my rig to the beach for fun and amusement). Got a very chimey sound when I wanted it, which also surprised me. From now on (well, when my stockpile goes low) it's 11's for me.
I got the Cleartones because I bought a really nice Reverend six gun used at GC. Guy put some phase switch on it, and had some long life strings on, as I found out. Time passed.... one month.... two months.... almost three. Of course the joke is that I have no idea what brand they were. I've used D'Addario and they don't last.
maybe I will report back when these go bad. This place is the ultimate test platform for strings and guitars. Re: the tele: the tuning machine posts have some corrosion, a touch on the saddles. Base plate and screws are doing just fine. That guitar went from "an interesting addition to my collection" to "wow, this is amazing!". Who'd a thunk strings could make that much a difference, and just .001 of an inch....
