Okay, so I'm looking for a good practice amp for Christmas and I've got the choice between a Kustom Dart 10 and a Marshall MG10 being sold on eBay.

The Kustom is $35 buy it now with $12.75 shipping, and the Marshall is currently $19.99, 0 bids, with $26.23 shipping. 7 1/2 hours left on the auction. Both are in used condition, and both sellers assure they work well.

What do you guys think? I've looked up some reviews and have read good things about both amps. Will be playing mainly classic rock and blues through it.

Although I'm not all that familiar with Kustom guitar amps-unless they are vintage-my daughter has a 10W solid state Kustom bass amp and that's a great little rig that she paid around $100 for.Marshalls on the other hand,I'm pretty well acquainted with. The MG-10 is a great little amp and surprisingly warm and almost tube like for a S.S. amp.It may be a bit raunchy for old style blues such as Hubert Sumlin,Muddy Waters etc. but it would be O.K. for the newer electric blues SRV, Bonomassa etc. I have found Marshall amps to be pretty well bullet proof and as far as tone goes Marshall-and Vox-come closest to capturing the tone of tube amps in a solid state.

If I were in your shoes I'd be leaning towards the Marshall.

Thanks, guitslinger, but the Kustom has already been bought. I looked up a lot of reviews on both amps and both were good choices. The Kustom is more well-rounded from what I read, which will be good for me. I read that the Marshall had wonderful clean tone, but lacked in distortion (not a big deal).

I might have liked the Marshall better, but I'm not too concerned about it. I have a Fender HR Deluxe, just needed a little practice amp so I could play my electric without having to carry my electric downstairs, get the amp out, plugged in and warmed up. I pretty much just wanted something small with a headphone jack so I don't annoy the hell out of my girlfriend's parents. They're a couple of old rock n' rollers but I didn't want to start getting on their nerves haha.

Not to mention the Marshall would've been shipped from a greater distance, and the Kustom seller had much better feedback and will be shipping a bit closer to home. At any rate, I'm sure I'll be just fine with the Kustom. It's an upgrade no matter what to my Frontman 15, which finally crapped out.

But once again, thanks guitslinger!

Hi Jake-have you looked into the Vox Mini 3 ? It's an amazing little 5W amp with 10 great amp models ranging from super clean to raunchy plus it has compression, chorus, flanging and tremolo. It also has provision for a mic and I-pod in and an incredible reverb/delay section.I paid about $80 plus taxes for mine and we even used it unmiced to play at a fairly large parish hall a few months back.It certainly would be well worth checking out.
