I tried to go to the HiWatt Amp page but Google interceded with a caution alert even though McAfee showed a green check mark beside the link indicating the site was safe. The Google warning offered a diagnostic info link that explained the risk assoctiated with the Hiwatt site and apparently 4 of the 8 pages they tested tried to install malware without user consent. I double checked the URL of the warning and it does appear to be a legitimate Google page.

Google warning here.

I am inclined to trust Google more than McAfee because I know McAfee only scans the link that shows up in the search results whereas Google has bots that will roam a whole site or at least most of it.

This is the first time I have ever encountered such a warning on a major music equipment supplier's web site. I have on very rare occaisions seen warnings on small to very small boutique gear web sites but never on a well know brand name web page. I'd like to be able to email them and inform them of Google's findings but I don't have an email address for them and I'm not about to risk going to their web site to find one.

I'd be interested to know what, if anything, others have experienced with their web page lately.

Hi BMW: with the troubled ownership history of that marque I'm not sure they get to call themselves a "major music equipment supplier" anymore. These days that's just a name that onceuponatime used to belong on fine amps. I've a notion Gilmour and Townshend as well as every reputable stockist I know of have severed links with whoever the heck it is that's putting out that badge now.

Still, for what it's worth I recently navigated their site without problems.

Now, if I could just stop all these weird pop-ups that have suddenly started littering my desktop... (jk)

Cheers - C

Very odd indeed, I get the same here.

The UK site checks out fine though, if you're looking for amp info.

Or, of course, www.reevesamps.com if you're looking for a real Hiwatt.
