Hello everyone,
I've been wanting to register for quite a bit now, so here I am introducing myself :o

My name is Maxime, I am 18 and I live in France, I used to live in Canada.
I play on my super 2006 Standard strat, listening to a lot of Blues: Muddy Waters, EC, Howlin' Wolf, BB King, Albert King, and Stevie Ray Vaughan that I admire a lot. I listen to all this magic on the net where I also recently discovered Joe Bonamassa and Greg Koch! It was about time :)

I have a passion for Fender guitars, and for the company itself. I read a lot of guitar magazines and vintage guitar magazines and I got to say I'd love to get my hands one day on a '62 strat in black or a seafoam green CS with matching headstock!

Next year I'll go on a 5 years journey to study carpentry and then later I will apply to the Newark School of Guitar Making to learn how to build spanish guitars, in England. I'd like to settle once my 2 years in England are over in Canada, or in the US.

I want to thank you for all the info I got before I joined in.

For any info, don't hesitate to ask,

Have a great day and cya soon!

max

Hi Max, welcome to the Forum.

Newark is a great choice. You will get a fabulous luthiery training there, at least as good as anywhere on the planet. I know a very fine Spanish luthier named Jose Catoira who trained there: he is just a marvelous builder. Here he is:

I know other people who have taught there as well. With Newark under your belt you can go anywhere in the instrument building world you choose.

Best of luck with it! :D

Hello Ceri,

Thanks a lot, indeed Newark seems to be an outstanding school, Thanks for the link to Jose Catoira's Youtube, his skills are really impressive and so it the art of violin making. I was told you could build any string instrument once you mastered violin making ( especially when making arch-tops :) ) I'll make sure to contact him and ask him about his experience when my school year is over, when things are more figured out in my mind. Can't wait to travel there and be with with people so passionate about guitars!

Good day to you!
