Wow, I just was strumming some "REAL LOVE"... Didn't realize the date (weekend).

It always bums me out to think about what if... Lennon was a true inspiration...

But not a FENDER player. I can't think of ever seeing him with a Fender...

Perhaps not , but if I REMEMBER correct , both John & George got similar (LP Blue?) strats during the Rubber Soul sessions . And you can see John play the Fender Bass VI in the ''Let It Be'' -movie.

Peace & Love !

I wasn't crazy about 'Double Fantasy' (a friend of mine made a cassette of just John's songs and called it 'Single Fantasy') but I was looking forward to finally seeing him on tour. I was hoping the album was going to be more rocking than it was. At any rate, so much for that. Unfortunately it's too easy to get a gun.

No, a gun didn't go off accidently, someone used a gun to kill him.

Exactly my point. At point blank range he could have used an axe, knife, club anything he had a crazy mind to use. The very tragic theater shootings in Colorado happened because of a nut job. Scandinavian countries have stricter gun laws than the US and a insane person killed many innocent people there in seconds. It's crazys with guns not the ease it is to get them. So I agree to disagree, that's all I will say on that subject.

Very sad what happened. I will never forget that day either. I live in Atlanta. I know what school the assasin went to as well. John was was not only a legend . . . but a great visionary as well. RIP John.

This time of year is pretty rough for me,even though Christmas is less than 3 weeks away. It's this time of year that I lost 2 people who influenced my life more than anyone else. On Nov.29,2002 we lost George Harrison and on Dec. 9,1980 John Lennon was assassinated for no other reason than to satisfy the needs of a psychotic madman to become famous-that's why to this day I refuse to say his name or especially print it because the mad bastard still gets his jollies when he sees or hears his name mentioned and no doubt he seeks out forums like this at this time of year to see how many remember his name.

It was on Feb. 9,1964 that I decided that I was going to be a musician and I stuck religiously to that decision and I'll forever love and be indebted to John Lennon and George Harrison for setting me on a path that would bring me more joy and satisfaction than anything else in this world.God Bless You John and George for inspiring and influencing me more than anyone else ever could.

Re Fenders and the Beatles: John and George both got their twin 1961 Sonic Blue Strats in 1965 and first used them on Nowhere Man where the Strat sound is quite obvious-especially on their unison lead break.George painted his Strat somewhere during 1967 using some Day-Glo paint and Patti's nail polish-that guitar then morphed into the now famous and much copied "Rocky".George also had the Rosewood Tele that was so prominent on the Let It Be movie.AS someone mentioned in a previous post John played a Fender Bass VI in that movie also.Just a couple of days ago on the Fender Fanatics and Beatles Universe sites on Facebook someone posted pix of John playing a White Jazzmaster.Whether or not it was just passed to him for the photo op is not clear but it appears to be a bit of a sing-a-long is going on while the pic is being taken.John also used his Sonic Blue Strat on Double Fantasy.
