Ah the F chord indeed. Keep at it. It's actually one of the chords I now find easiest to play and it's a very versatile shape for up and down the neck.

Welcome and hang in there!

I actually got the F chord down when I stop thinking about it.

My grandsons are trying to learn the guitar, I have told them that it is not a quick learn as there are so many facets - all the fingers can be involved and your brain has to learn to direct your hands without thinking - very difficult. If you keep at it long enough, eventually you will be able to do it all without even looking at your hands.

The first year is the worst, but the rewards are well worth the effort.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the forum blueripley. There is a unwritten rule here that you have to show us a pic of your guitar  We just love guitar pics here.

Oh and congrats on the new guitar.

Well HELLO to you to, and welcome. I think you'll find that you've come to the right place. Stick it out and ask lots of questions.

I disagree with the statement above. Alternate tunings are not your friend, particularly at this stage of the game.

Welcome

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
