Been trying to find a hard case for my guitar. Eventually came across Fenders' own vintage style card case, only to find it doesn't fit a Left Handed mustang.

Fender don't even make a hard case to fit a left handed mustang - I am absolutely bemused as to why they don't !! It's only a case of modifying the interior slightly.

Thoroughly fed up!

Welcome to the Forum!

Pardon my ignorance, but I don't understand how a "regular" (right-handed) Mustang case would not work; but I am not a Southpaw, so there are probably factors I have never had to consider. The bassist for the little cover band I've been jamming with lately is a lefty, and his bass and guitar cases do not look any different than mine, on the interior or exterior.

That being the case (pardon the pun), I would contact the fine Texans of Southpaw Guitars in Houston. If there is a device such as what you crave, they will definitely know.

If I'm remembering correctly, the Mustang is an offset bodystyle, like a Jazz Bass... the lefty would be reverse offset and not fit in a tightly molded case.

I'd go for a generic, fit-all rectangular case, that should work out fine. Musician's Friend has thier store brand for $49.99, or you can find about the same deal on rondomusic.com and I think they have a few different finish options as well. Good luck!

Hi,

Thanks for your posts guys.

I have just got Thomann to get a Fender Standard Mustang / Jagstang hard case and place a left handed Cobain Mustang into it in their warehouse. They say it fits.

Fender UK told me it doesn't. (To be honest, The guy at Fender UK, sounded totally un-interested in helping me, and I felt he was just trying to get rid of me...wonder if he knows I've been buying Fender for 25 yrs, probably before he was even born!)

Well, I'm going to suck it and see. Have ordered a case, so will report back.

I just don't like generic cases! My little Mustang deserves better.

Hope that case works for you! If not, you could do what I've always done. Find a used BASS hardshell case, and slightly modify it. I use green floral foam (the soft kind) and whatever kind of material that matches the case. - just trace your guitar on the foam , cut it out with a sharp knife , (with a slight bevel on the edge to make it look more professional) and use gorilla glue or something comparable to glue it in. then with the extra space you can add a compartment or two for strings, picks, etc.

Well, I'm glad Thomann know Fender products better than Fender themselves! The guitar fits like a glove.

So, a Fender Mustang/Jag-stang/Cyclone Standard Case fits a left handed Mustang
