I've had my FCS bass for over 11 months and still lovin' it. :D
Can't say that about the case though. :(
Such a fantastic bass to come in such a basic case. As you can probably imagine I handle the bass very carefully, but the tolex has a half dozen or more nicks and small tears already.
I didn't want to spend the big bucks on a ATA flight case, especially since that would be overkill in my case, so I went with a happy medium.
I bought a Gator GPE case. It's waterproof and flight approved. The bass fits in perfectly. I really like the long neck support. The storage comparments do not have lids, but the lid of the case fits in such a manner that nothing can spill out of the comparments when the case is closed. I also like the maroon crushed velvet much more than that black fuzzy stuff. The 2nd and 4th picture come closer to the actual color.
Overall I'm very satistified with the case. Well worth the money. So if your looking to upgrade your case, this case will work well with a Jazz bass.

A good case is important, especially with a beloved and expensive instrument. Glad you're happy with yours.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the case you were dissatisfied with?

Don't mind at all.
It was the original Fender case the bass came in. The regular black tolex type. The case is okay, but the tolex tears easily.
I have the same case that came with my '75 P-bass, but it's still in one piece and all the latches and hinges work well. Looks rough as heck though. :P

But it's a "Custom Shop" bass, isn't that right? I guess I just assumed they came with a little better grade of case than a regular production run guitar. Surely it must have at least been a G&G case, no?

You would think that they would come up with a case equal to a FCS guitar, wouldn't you?

Yeah the case that came with my bass is a G&G case. I sent the original G&G case back for replacement due to a bad latch. The replacement case works fine and seems sturdy enough. I'm just not a fan of the tolex covering. They're okay for storage at home, but they just don't seem to hold up even when gigging locally as I do.

I load the bass in the back seat of my truck, '10 F-250 Crew Cab, so there's plenty of room. However, I do have to load other gear back there at times. The nicks and tears aren't bad, but they're not going to get any better either.

I do like and feel better about this Gator case. Just thought I would post about it in case anyone else felt the same as I do. Let them know my experience with the case before they made a purchase.

The case looks great. You're right about the color of the felt interior. I also like your strap. I use the same one, in the same color. Your bass is fantastic by the way.

Any chance you want to get rid of the old one cheap? :D

I'm seriously lacking in the Jazz Bass case department... I've got my Geddy in a late '90's Fender molded clamshell case, my Antigua in an OLD beat up, sun-warped Gator hardshell that doesn't seal right when it closes (I'm talking 1/4" gaps on either corner with all three latches closed tight, "tight" being a relative term  ), and my Squier 5 string is currently living in the padded "softshell case/gig bag hybrid that the Geddy came in. The only one I'm okay with really is the Fender clamshell... the other two are in dire need of upgrades.

That GPE looks awesome... but I'd be more than happy with ripped tolex hand-me-downs...

I would say you could use a couple of upgrades, but I'll be hanging on the G&G case, just in case. :P

The GPE is a nice case and I feel alot better transporting my bass to gigs in it. I had to buy it blind online though. Not a shop in a 100+ mile radius that had one I could look at before buying.

So hopefully posting this will help someone on here, especially if they're in the same situatuion as I am. There are some good knowledgeable people on this forum that have helped me in the past. Just tryin' to pass it forward.

Thanks Mr.Nylon.
Ths strap is a Levy with padding. Comfortable. It's the burgandy color, but the color inside the case makes it look brown.
I'm still amazed with this bass. Love the violin burst. Wish I could take a picture that did it justice. The flamed maple fretboard is amazing. As good as it is to look at....it's even better playing. FCS does fantastic work.
