A made in the USA amp for a 100 bucks, I'd jump on it in a heart beat!

Lightnin, buy it, these were well made, have some great sounds in em, and if you like chorus, these have a pretty lush one! For $100 you CAN'T go wrong.

Let us know if you grab it!

There's a nice one that I've been looking at, sitting in a pawn shop here for $200! If I were you, I'd snap that thing up RIGHT NOW!!

First off... a HUGE Thank-You for everyone's help !!

I picked up the Amp today at 5pm. It was from a moving sale - Empty Nesters who were selling the Homestead and downsizing into a Townhome.

The Amp belonged to their son who bought it new in '96 (as evidenced by a 50th Anniversary badge on the back), and really didn't play it much as he had another amp as well. His Dad said he moved away from home for Grad School in '97 and the Amp stayed behind in his closet. He has since dropped guitar playing altogether, is married and living out-of-state.

I gave it a feeble testing (all the lights went on... sound came out), slipped Dad a Benjamin and took the amp home.

The Amp is really in like-new condition. No dents, cuts or mars to the Tolex. The inside wasn't even dusty - it had been covered with a sheet. Everything works as it should albeit a couple of the pots/rheos are a little scratchy - no doubt from non-use. These may simply smooth out once used regularly, or may need a shot of electronics cleaner.

It's my 1st Big Boy Amp which is exciting, and the Clean channel is so much better than my 20W 8" Orange practice Amp that I actually sound worse on it as it amplifies my pre-natal playing and poor technique - gives me a good guide for improvement. I now much better understand why palm/finger muting is so important - this amp will make me a better player !

The D-channel is a little disappointing, seems a bit dirtier than I expected, but then, I haven't a clue what I'm doing or how it's supposed to sound. The Reverb is great and the Chorus is very interesting, though again, I don't know how to use it yet.

But a Fender combo w/ 2X10, old school reverb for $100... can't beat it. I see they go from anywhere from $150-$300 on the bay, cl, etc. I even think it's a lot of amp for that money.

I also think I'm going to have to pick up a power conditioner. I live in a 17-unit Condo Bldg., and a couple times it picked up a slight buzz. I have experienced this before with my stereo gear due to others using appliances elsewhere in the Bldg. I have a conditioner for the Big Screen, Stereo and Computer. It's a slight annoyance, but shows how clean the amp's circuitry really is, and it's readily fixable.

To be fair, being Sunday, when most of the other owners are home, I really couldn't give it a good workout. My prime playing time is weekdays 9-5 when everyone else is off at work (other times I'm on the headphones), then I can crank it without worry that I'm disturbing anyone, so I'll have to make a 2nd report.

Eventually, I do want to get a tube amp and am very intrigued by the stuff Michael Swart is producing ( http://swartamps.com/home.htm ), so maybe way down the road, a Space Tone or Atomic Space Tone will have my name on it.

I may even look into making my own, I have a bit of an electronics background. I'm an engineer by degree - aeronautical, but I rubbed up against enough EE's in my life to have gained a better than passing knowledge - I had to school myself just to be able to understand what they were talking about.

Off Topic I know... But, for the past 5 years, I have been designing and manufacturing retrofit LED lighting kits (PCB arrays w/ my own circuitry) for classic european cars (Porsche, Lotus, BMW, Brit Cars, Alphas) which I sell through my own internet company... so it's not a totally alien world for me. (see pics below for an example of my LED conversion kits... this one for a late model BMW 2002/2002 Tii '74-'76).

Congrats! I'm always glad to hear of others getting steals like this, even though I never find them.

Enjoy!
